NXT UK TV taping
Plymouth, England at Plymouth Pavilions
Report by Dot Net reader Steven Dunne

Dark match: Saxon Huxley beat Josh Morrell.

Johnny Saint and Sid Scala come out to welcome the crowd. Imperium come out to interrupt and threaten Johnny and Sid. Walter says there are no more challengers left. Tyler Bate’s music played. Two members of Imperium went to cut him off at the ramp, but Bate ruan out from the crowd and jumped Walter in the ring. Imperium ran in, but Bate cleared the ring. Walter vs. Tyler Bate for the U.K. Title is made official for NXT Takeover: Cardiff.

1. “Gallus” Wolfgang and Mark Coffey beat “Pretty Deadly” Sam Stoker and Lewis Howley. A squash. The two Gallus members cut a promo after the match calling out Grizzled Young Veterans for a U.K. Tag Team Title match.

2. Rhea Ripley defeated Dani Luna.

3. Alexander Wolfe defeated Jordan Devlin. A very entertaining match.

4. Noam Dar defeated Ashton Smith. Noam is interviewed by Radzi in the ring after the match and says that he will be at Takeover Cardiff.

“The Grizzled Young Veterans” James Drake and Zack Gibson came out for a promo. Gallus interrupted. After some back and forth, Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster come out and say they want a title match as well. GYV say that they’ve already already earned their own spot at Takeover by being the champs, Gallus earned their spot in Glasgow, and Andrews and Webster have to earn their spot.

6. Jinny and Jazzy Gabert defeated Xia Brookside and Piper Niven. Rhea Ripley came out during the match and brawled with Piper to the back. After the match, Shayna Baszler made her entrance and laid out Brookside. A match between Baszler and Brookside was announced later in the evening for tomorrow’s tapings.

7. Joe Coffey and “Bomber” Dave Mastiff fight to a double count out. Coffey appeared to be bleeding from his ear. The match was announced as ending due to both men being unable to continue, possibly setting up a Last Man Standing match?

William Regal came out to make a speech and thank the fans. Huge ovation and Regal got very emotional.

8. Travis Banks defeated Kenny Williams. Noam Dar came out to do commentary and jawed with Banks after the match.

9. Isla Dawn defeated Nina Samuels. The ending seemed quite abrupt, with Dawn seeming as surprised as anyone that she won.

10. Kassius Ohno defeated Ilja Dragunov. Hands down, match of the night.

Dark match main event: NXT Tag Team Champions Matt Riddle and “The Street Profits” Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins defeated Joseph Conners and NXT U.K. Tag Team Champions “Grizzled Young Veterans” Zack Gibson and James Drake.

Notes and observations: From where I was sat, I managed to get a look at the run sheet. These episodes should air from July 31. The run sheet also had Pete Dunne in a second main event against an unknown opponent, but this didn’t happen.

The possible card for NXT U.K. Takeover: Cardiff (tomorrow’s tapings will take us up to Takeover, so these should be confirmed then).

NXT U.K. Title match: Walter (c) vs. Tyler Bate (confirmed)

NXT U.K. Women’s Title: Toni Storm (c) vs. Kay Lee Ray (confirmed)

NXT U.K. Tag Team Title Match: Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Gallus vs Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster (potential)

Travis Banks vs. Noam Dar (potential)

Last Man Standing: Joe Coffey vs. “Bomber” Dave Mastiff (potential)
