Dick Slater (Richard Van Slater) reportedly died on Thursday at age 67. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Powell’s POV: Slater got his start in 1968 and worked until a back injury ended his career in 1996. He had a disappointing one year run with the WWF, but was successful in many other promotions in the United States and Japan. Slater made headlines in 2004 when he was convicted of attacking his girlfriend with a butcher knife. He later labeled the attack as being drug related while stating that he had no recollection of the incident. Slater was eventually sentenced to one year of house arrest and two years probation.
