His voice is known around the globe as THE voice of the WWE. Now the world we’ll get to know the man behind that voice in an intimate autobiography from independent book publisher, Skyhorse.

Jim Ross, the voice of the WWE, to publish new book with Skyhorse. The book, entitled Slobberknocker, is due out in the fall 2017 and is Ross at his most personal, sharing his life from a simple upbringing to becoming one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling.

Ross has been involved in wrestling for over forty years. Not only is he a whiz behind the mic, but he also has an incredible eye for talent, helping sign such wrestling icons as “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and John Cena, to name a few.

This tell-all, named after his famous catch phrase, will cover Ross’ life and career, with a climax at WrestleMania 15. After a second bout of Bell’s palsy, J.R. was removed from the broadcast booth, only to return and call the main event between Steve Austin and The Rock.

With over 1.5 million Twitter followers and 146,000 likes on Facebook, Ross has a strong presence on social media. His podcast, The Ross Report, receives over 750,000 listeners a week. He can also be read in columns on Fox Sports as well as his work with both CBS Sports, AXS TV, and Britain’s ITV. Ross has written or co-written two New York Times bestsellers (Can You Take the Heat? and as a co-writer for The Stone Cold Truth) and he owns a successful line of Bar-B-Q sauces and condiments.

SKYHORSE PUBLISHING, one of the fastest-growing independent book publishers in the United States, was launched in September 2006 by Tony Lyons, former president and publisher of the Lyons Press. It has had forty-two titles on the New York Times bestseller list over the course of its ten-year history.

With a backlist of over 6,000 titles, Skyhorse publishes a maverick list that includes fiction, nonfiction, history, politics, rural living, cooking, humor, and children’s books. Powell’s POV: With the book ending around WrestleMania 15 time, it would seem there is still plenty of material for another book. I consider this to be one of the true must read books given Ross’s storytelling ability, his long history in the business, the positions he held behind behind the scenes, etc.
