CM Punk undergoing back surgery, first UFC fight delayed

CM Punk is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a herniated disc on Wednesday. “My back has always bugged me,” Punk told MMAFighting.com. “Figured it was just wrestling shit. Turns out it was. It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy … nothing worked.” Read the full story at MMAFighting.com.

Powell’s POV: Punk added that he sees this as “a bump in the road.” It was just announced on Saturday that he would face Mickey Gall at a future UFC event. Dana White stated that it would likely be at UFC 199, but that will no longer be the case. Punk told Ariel Helwani that he got the call right before the fight on Saturday and decided to keep the news quiet.
