NXT Live Event
Houston, Texas at Revention Music Center
Report by Dot Net reader Chris Szanto (thanks to Johnny Rosado for sending results)

1. No Way Jose defeated Elias Sampson. Sampson sang a song about how he hates Houston to a Bon Jovi song before the match.

2. Sanity (Eric Young, Damo, and Alexander Wolf) defeated Cedric Alexander and Heavy Machinery (Otis and Tucker).

3. Rodrick Strong defeated Wesley Blake. Blake cut a promo beforehand stating how he thinks everything and everyone in Houston is garbage. After the match, Strong cut a promo for takeover.

DIY were cutting a promo backstage when the Revival burst in a challenged them to a tag title match, which DIY accepted.

4. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeated the Revival with a double submission to retain the NXT Tag Titles. Before the match, the Authors Of Pain attacked DIY and laid them out. The recovered and started the match. There was a rare heal “Dusty Finish” where Revival pinned Gargano for three only to have the illegal guy in the ring. The Authors ran in again after the match but DIY fended them off.

Intermission

5. Auska defeated Nikki Cross, Payton Royce, and Billie Kay in a four-way to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. Nothing special here. Nikki acted crazy and attacked everyone and Asuka submitted one of the Aussies.

6. Andrade Almas defeated Akira Tozawa in a pretty competitive match.

7. Tye Dillinger and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode. After the match, Tye cut a promo for takeover and Shinsuke cut an unintelligible promo in his broken English. I think the gist of it was he’s gonna kick Roode’s head off.

Lots of chants. I guess yelling “one fall” after the ring announcer says it is a thing now. Who’d have guessed it? Anyways a pretty good show. Obviously no surprise title changes this close to the Takeover special.
