There\u2019s a lot of people that can drink and they never get into trouble, nothing bad happens to them, they still make rational decisions\u2026 those are people that can sensibly drink and I\u2019m not one of those people. It took me a long time to realize I was an alcoholic. I always thought when I was growing up an alcoholic was a person that was homeless, passed out on a park bench, or begging for change for alcohol. I didn\u2019t realize it\u2019s a broad spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>On It leading to his release from WWE:<\/b> &#8220;When I got fired from WWE for a drinking related thing, for touching a cop\u2026 For one, I was arrogant and I was in a good position, I thought \u2018Oh, I\u2019ll be fine.\u201d Because I\u2019d already been arrested before that, when I\u2019d first signed with WWE, for a DUI. So they already knew I had a drinking problem. I was oblivious to it\u2026 because I wasn\u2019t drinking every day, I was drinking occasionally. But when I\u2019d drink that one time, I\u2019d end up in trouble. So when they released me, they said \u2018Go seek some help. Ya know, you\u2019ve probably got a problem.\u2019 I was still like \u2018Nah, I don\u2019t have a problem.\u2019 and that\u2019s how I still carried on for 10 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>On the decision to finally become sober:<\/b> &#8220;Don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019m very grateful now. I\u2019m in a good position, I\u2019ve got a great relationship, I can run a household\u2026 I sort of just\u2026 grew up. But I look back at those ten years and always ask myself \u2018Why did it take you TEN YEARS?\u2019 There were so many chances, so many opportunities. I just honestly thought I was fine, but I was against the world. I was angry. Drinking also helped me to never deal with any of my feelings and it helped me to just not care.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cause when I did quit\u2026 and I tried to quit for several years, but finally with the help of Kailey, it was time, even though there were a million events that should have been the time\u2026 it\u2019s dealing with the emotions, that\u2019s the hard part. When I finally gave it up, there was no crutch. If I got angry, or something bad happened\u2026 you have to deal with everything.&#8221; When you\u2019ve not dealt with ten years of your emotions and your behaviour\u2026 what you\u2019ve done to people, the friends you lost, the marriages that have gone away and the people that you\u2019ve hurt\u2026 it\u2019s a lot to deal with. But again, it\u2019s the best thing I ever did and of course I always have to be careful. Always. But I never thought I would be a person who could say they\u2019re sober. I never thought it was possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8230; This is a scary statement to say, but I will never and can never drink again. Because, whatever takes over my body. Whatever possesses Thomas Latimer is not me, and there is no limit to what can happen when I\u2019ve had drink. I could wake up in jail on a murder charge. I\u2019m not willing to take that risk anymore. But that is how much it changes me as a human being.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>On understanding you have a problem:<\/b> &#8220;If no one gets anything else [from this interview], maybe someone will learn that it\u2019s okay to have a drinking problem, it\u2019s normal and millions of people go through it. I was someone who never in a million years thought I could be sober. And I\u2019m sober. This will sound terrible, but I would drink and drive every day. I\u2019d be wrestling and promoters would give me drink because they were nervous and thought I would die if I didn\u2019t have enough.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I look back and it\u2019s just madness. How did I never get pulled over? I remember times drinking a lone in hotel rooms sobbing and I\u2019m thinking \u2018Who IS this person?\u201d So from me, I know what it\u2019s like and it CAN be done. If you are struggling with dependency, it can be done. I\u2019m not someone that *should\u2019ve* recovered&#8230; Once it starts to affect other people though, it\u2019s time to say enough\u2019s enough. If you\u2019re just hurting yourself, fine\u2026 but if there&#8217;re casualties because of your behaviour, it\u2019s time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>On the social media backlash he faces:<\/b> &#8220;Yeah, I avoid it like the plague. If anyone listening to this follows me on Twitter, I\u2019m sorry that I don\u2019t tweet. I retweet, but I don\u2019t put my opinion or my feelings out there. Before, when I was drunk I didn\u2019t care. Give me all of your hate. Whereas now, I sound like a bit of a wuss, but I get one snarky comment, it messes up my whole day. It crushes me. And I know everyone goes through this. There are people that are way more notable than me and who am I to complain? But Twitter, I avoid. Kailey (a\/k\/a Camille) got rid of hers for her mental health and she\u2019s loving life without it.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-3835077087\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of people see it as a negative, but after everything that\u2019s happened, I sort of closed off a little bit. I try and not see any negativity and after the everything that\u2019s happened to me the last ten years it\u2019s been tough, obviously. I\u2019ve been so closed off\u2026 I\u2019m happy we get to talk. It\u2019s sort of helping me get over that. I sort of shut down and shut off just to protect my own mental health, but I think now is a good time to talk about it. Sometimes I think it\u2019s nobody\u2019s business and why should I put any of this out there? But if it helps someone else, so be it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>On Kamille often firing back at people on social media:<\/b> &#8220;She can get away with that, I can\u2019t. Even if it\u2019s that I\u2019m 110 percent correct in what I\u2019m saying, I can\u2019t do that. And I\u2019ve accepted that and I understand it. But it\u2019s definitely a place I don\u2019t hang about on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s making him speak now:<\/b> \u201cI have to sound pretty dumb, but I wish I could be me now when I was 24. I burnt every bridge, walked away from every opportunity, upset a lot of people\u2026 I don\u2019t know. I think a bit of it is I want people to know me a bit more. I think in my mind I always had this illusion of say, Undertaker. He\u2019s supposed to be this dead man. You\u2019re not supposed to be able to tweet him. He\u2019s unattainable and he\u2019s untouchable\u2026 time\u2019s have changed. I thought I wanted to be New Jack or Sabu&#8230;I want people to know that I\u2019ve changed. But also it\u2019s scary to admit all of that and let people in. I\u2019ve been too guarded from what people are going to say or what people are going to think. But I think it\u2019s time to talk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>Other topics include going into deeper detail on his time in WWE and Impact Wrestling, having a new opportunity and being \u201creborn\u201d in
