This marks a significant increase from the\u00a0$142 million\u00a0generated for\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a030 in\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0and the seventh consecutive year that\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a0generated more than\u00a0$100 million in economic impact for its host region.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 12 years,\u00a0<i>WrestleMania\u00a0<\/i>has generated more than\u00a0$1.2 billion\u00a0in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event.\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a034 also generated approximately\u00a0$23.7 million\u00a0in federal, state and local taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet again, WWE delivered on its promise to offer a spectacular event in\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0and a boost to the local economy,&#8221; said Governor John Bel Edwards. &#8220;I would like to thank the WWE fans from around the world that descended on\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0for\u00a0<i>WrestleMania\u00a0<\/i>Week. We hope they enjoyed their visit, and more importantly, we hope to bring\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a0back to\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were thrilled to have been a cornerstone event as part of the city\u2019s Tricentennial Celebration, and that\u00a0<i>WrestleMania\u2019s<\/i>\u00a0triumphant return to\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0once again generated an incredible economic windfall for the city,\u201d said John P. Saboor, WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events. \u201cThe success of our weeklong celebration would not have been possible without the tireless support of the\u00a0State of Louisiana, the\u00a0City of New Orleans\u00a0and all of the public and private sector partners throughout the region. We now turn our attention to\u00a0New York\u00a0and\u00a0New Jersey\u00a0for what will be a historic\u00a0<i>WrestleMania\u00a0<\/i>Week celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A record crowd of 78,133 fans from all 50 states and 67 countries attended WWE\u2019s pop-culture extravaganza this past April, making it the highest-grossing entertainment event in the history of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Key highlights from the study include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"bwlistitemmargb\">$175 million\u00a0in direct, indirect and induced impact derived from spending by visitors to\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0for\u00a0<i>WrestleMania\u00a0<\/i>34.<\/li>\n<li class=\"bwlistitemmargb\">77% of fans that attended\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a0were from outside the\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0region and stayed an average of 3.9 nights.<\/li>\n<li class=\"bwlistitemmargb\">$22 million\u00a0was spent on hotels and accommodations within\u00a0New Orleans.<\/li>\n<li class=\"bwlistitemmargb\">The economic impact derived from\u00a0<i>WrestleMania<\/i>\u00a0Week was equal to the creation of 1,583 full-time jobs for the area.<\/li>\n<li class=\"bwlistitemmargb\">$9.9 million\u00a0was spent by visitors to\u00a0New Orleans\u00a0at area restaurants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next year,\u00a0<i>WrestleMania 35<\/i>\u00a0will take place Sunday, April 7 live from MetLife Stadium in\u00a0East Rutherford, NJ. Tickets will be available this Friday, November 16 at 10 AM ET through Ticketmaster. The event will be streamed live around the world on WWE Network.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0WrestleMania 30 produced $142.2 million for New Orleans when WWE&#8217;s marquee event was held in\u00a0the city in 2014.
