Championship while recovering from a severe neck injury. NJPW will be holding a four-man tournament to determine the new champion. The participants will be Kushida, Bushi, Will Ospreay, and Marty Scurll.<\/p>\n<p>Kushida vs. Bushi will be held at the September 23 event in Kobe, Japan, and Scurll vs. Ospreay will meet at the September 30 event in Long Beach, California. The winners will meet in the finals on October 8 at Sumo Hall. Read the official announcement at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njpw1972.com\/34611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NJPW1972.com.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Takahashi suffered a neck injury at the August 20 event in San Francisco. As such, the announcement of him relinquishing the title was not a surprise. All four men in the tournament have held the IWPG Jr. Hvt. Championship previously.
