Luck, the father of NFL quarterback Andrew Luck, previously worked as an executive in the NFL and NCAA and was the president of the defunct NFL Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oliver and I share the same vision and passion for reimagining the game of football,&#8221; Vince McMahon stated in a press release. &#8220;His experience as both an athlete and executive will ensure the long-term success of the XFL.&#8221; Read the official announcement at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xfl.com\/press\/oliver-luck.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">XFL.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> The XFL also released a video (available below) with Luck discussing his new role and stating his desire for a &#8220;fast-paced, high energy, authentic, yet simpler game.&#8221; He also noted that they submitted a proposal to 30 markets that could potentially host one of the planned eight teams for the league launch in 2020.
