I disagree in all but one case, as the non-qualifiers were logically booked to set things up for the WrestleDream pay-per-view. For instance, what good would have come from Ospreay or Andrade winning this match when they both strike me as heavy favorites to win their matches on Saturday? Perhaps Ciampa should have been the one to beat Andrade in this match, but Joe choking out Andrade likely sets up an intriguing match with Joe challenging for the AEW National Championship at some point. This was an entertaining match that gave the heels heat and momentum heading into WrestleDream.<\/p>\n<p><b>FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns:<\/b> The brief verbal exchange was nothing special, but the announcement that these great teams will meet in a best-of-five series is a huge Hit in my book.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mark Davis, Wardlow, and Jake Doyle vs. Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Daniel Garcia in a trios match:<\/b> The lone surprise outcome was Davis pinning Moxley, which is also perfectly logical given the story being told with Moxley, and because fans perceive Davis as an underdog heading into their AEW Continental Championship match. Davis pinning Moxley combined with Moxley being in agony during a backstage segment with Renee Paquette surely sold some fans on the possibility of Davis winning on Saturday. Well done.<\/p>\n<p><b>Adam Copeland promo:<\/b> Copeland announced that 2027 will be his final year as a professional wrestler. All good things must come to an end. I&#8217;m happy that Copeland will get a full year of farewells, which could sell some tickets if AEW drives home the message that Copeland will be making his final appearance in each market he goes to. Copeland also revealed that Christian Cage suffered three broken ribs, including one broken in three places, and a collapsed lung during the ladder match at All Out. Copeland said the injury occurred roughly five minutes into a match that went over 23 minutes. It&#8217;s horrifying to think that he may have wrestled part of the match with a collapsed lung, but Copeland didn&#8217;t offer any specifics. Either way, I have no idea how Christian worked through the pain of broken ribs, but I wish him the best in his recovery.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ilja Dragunov vignette:<\/b> A nice teaser for the arrival of the former WWE wrestler. But why run this so late in the show that it was beyond the advertised three-hour mark? My best guess is that they ran this before Darby Allin&#8217;s match as a teaser for Dragunov&#8217;s first AEW match. Even if that&#8217;s the case, then they should have put Darby&#8217;s match on earlier in the night. On the bright side, I&#8217;m sure the vignette will get plenty of social media attention.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dani Luna and Hyan vs. Persephone and Britt Baker:<\/b> A soft Hit. I wouldn&#8217;t say that Luna and Hyan winning was predictable because viewers had no way of knowing that this match was going to set up the four-way for the TBS Championship that was announced afterward. It also wasn&#8217;t a big surprise that Luna won since this was her first match on AEW television. If anything, it&#8217;s surprising that Luna didn&#8217;t pin Persephone now that we know that Luna, Hyan, and Queen Aminata will challenge Persephone for the TBS Championship on Saturday. After all, Persephone just beat Luna to retain the title at the All Out pay-per-view. On a side note, a Luna heel turn can&#8217;t come soon enough. She was fine as a babyface in TNA, but she thrived once she turned heel.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Collision hour:<\/b> It was refreshing that there wasn&#8217;t a massive drop-off when Dynamite ended, as there has been during some of the past three-hour blocks. Having a pair of Clockwork Carnage qualifiers helped. As predictable as those matches were, they added meaning to two of the three Collision matches.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>AEW Dynamite\/Collision Misses<\/strong><\/span><\/p><div id=\"prowr-3907572405\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisements\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><b>The Clockwork Carnage qualifying matches:<\/b> I can save us all some time by lumping them together as a minor Miss. There wasn&#8217;t a bad match in the bunch, so they would be Hits for anyone that cares most about match quality. While I enjoyed some of the matches more than others, they all felt long and predictable. It would have been nice if even one qualifying match ended in an upset or didn&#8217;t look so predictable on paper. I&#8217;m not suggesting that one of the wrestlers who lost the qualifying matches should have won. I&#8217;m fine with the wrestlers who advanced, but they really should have had at least one of those wrestlers face someone the fans view as being higher or equal in AEW&#8217;s pecking order. And why not shake up the match times? Not only did each qualifying match go over ten minutes, but every single match held during this needlessly long 3.5-hour show went at least ten minutes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue vs. Mercedes Mone, Megan Bayne, and Lena Kross in a trios match:<\/b> Please tell me that the idea of black mist having magical powers went away when Malakai Black left the company. Either way, this match set up a throwaway pre-show match between the two tag teams. The higher priority should have been to make Thekla look strong heading into her title match with Mone. Yes, Thekla got the win for her team by pinning Kross, but only after Hart sprayed black mist in Kross&#8217;s eyes, and the Sisters of Sin followed up with a double-team move. Thekla would have benefited more from getting some mic time, as one of her wild promos would have been more likely to get the fans behind her than winning this forgettable trios match.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mojo Brookzz appears with Kofi, Austin Creed, and Prince Nana:<\/b> I&#8217;m a fan of Mojo&#8217;s comedy, but most fans in the building were clearly not familiar with him. Mojo made it worse by asking Kofi, Creed, and Nana if they could hear the (silent) fans screaming his name, which led to boos from the crowd. I&#8217;m surprised that a comedian known for great crowd work comedy made such a rookie mistake.
