I’ll reiterate that the production quality of MLW has never been better than the tapings throughout 2026.

* Footage aired of highlights from last week’s episode. Backstage, Matt Riddle again approached Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux and reiterated, “You owe me, bro.”

1. Ikuro Kwon (w/Josef Samael) vs. Andrew Everett in an Opera Cup first-round match. Yes, because MLW aired an episode out of order two weeks ago, we are still getting through first-round tournament matches. Andrew still wears his black, Andre the Giant-style one-strap singlet, and he thinks he’s a giant. Andrew hit a standing moonsault and some chops. He hit a huracanrana and was fired up. Kwon hit a German Suplex for a nearfall at 1:00, and he stomped on Everett.

Everett hit some overhand chops. Kwon slammed Andrew face-first to the mat for a nearfall. Kwon stomped on Everett and kept him grounded. Everett got up, and they traded punches. Kwon bit Andrew’s fingers and hit a running knee to the face at 4:30. Andrew hit a moonsault press, but he missed a Lionsault. Kwon hit a neckbreaker over his knee for a nearfall. Everett hit a springboard twisting press for a nearfall at 6:00! Samael reached in and grabbed Everett’s ankle! Kwon sprayed mist in Everett’s eyes! He hit a running Shining Wizard and scored the pin. Solid.

Ikuro Kwon defeated Andrew Everett at 7:07 to advance.

* Rich Bocchini interviewed Austin Aries on the stage. He thanked the fans “for this warm welcome,” which of course only made them boo louder. He’s the smartest man who has ever lived! The crowd chanted profanities at him, and he admonished them for cursing around kids. He boasted about making sure Mistico won’t become a two-time Opera Cup champion. He said he would fulfill his destiny of being this year’s Opera Cup winner.

* A vignette aired for Glasbow Boys on Top.

2. Wolfgang vs. Big Damo (w/Josef Samael) in an Opera Cup first-round tournament match. No sign of the Coffey brothers, his GBoT teammates. An intense lockup to open; Damo is a bit taller and clearly heavier. Wolfgang tried some shoulder blocks. They both went to the floor at 1:00 and charged at each other like big bulls, with neither man going down. They traded forearm strikes and chops. Back in the ring, Damo hit a running crossbody block, and we got a “Shave your back!” chant.

Damo hit a guillotine leg drop for a nearfall at 2:30. Wolfgang hit a top-rope axe handle to Damo’s head, but Damo hit a spinebuster and an elbow drop for a nearfall. Wolfgang hit a second-rope superplex at 4:30, and they were both down. We got a ‘This is awesome!” chant. They got up and traded clotheslines. Wolfgang hit a bodyslam! He went for a Swanton Bomb, but Damo got his knees up. Damo hit his version of a brainbuster for the pin; it looked pretty devastating.

Big Damo defeated Wolfgang at 6:09 to advance.

* We again saw the vignette with a red hat and the word “Unbound” appearing on the screen, a clear indication that Yota Tsuji is coming!

* Bocchini spoke with LaBron Kozone outside. Rich asked him if Teddy Long is okay. Kozone said that Long told him “to keep winning.” LaBron said he’s not done with the Glasgow Boys, but for now, he’s focused on winning the Opera Cup.

3. Jumbo vs. Rich Moya. Jumbo is a 400-pounder, and he was all smiles as he walked to the ring. Moya was “already in the ring.” He has a passing resemblance to Rocky Romero. Jumbo hit a running splash into the corner, put his foot over Rich’s chest, and scored the pin! “That has to be a record-time victory!” Dombrowski said.

Jumbo defeated Rich Moya at 00:08.

* Matt Riddle was about to speak to Rich Bocchini backstage. Aries walked up and started arguing with Riddle. Aries was okay with a fight. Riddle told Aries, “I would smoke you, bro.”

* We saw footage of the H.A.T.E. faction attacking Shotzi Blackheart recently. Shotzi will face Rina next week. Also, CJ Gallows will debut next week!

4. Killer Kross (w/Scarlett) and Matt Riddle vs. “The Skyscrapers” Donovan Dijak and Joshua Bishop. The heels were arguing as they entered the ring (not a good sign!), so Kross and Riddle attacked them! All four immediately brawled to the floor. Kross struck Dijak with a garbage can lid to the face, and he did it another time. In the ring, Bishop brawled with Riddle. On the floor, Riddle hit Josh with a chair shot to the back, and he jabbed it into Bishop’s ribs. In the ring, Riddle hit a Saito Suplex, then a top-rope twisting splash for a nearfall at 3:00.

Kross opened a chair in the center of the ring and hit a DDT on Bishop onto the chair. Riddle hit a series of roundhouse kicks on each heel. Dijak tossed Matt to the floor. Bishop went under the ring and got some kendo sticks, and he choked Kross with one at 5:00. Scarlett hit Bishop across his back! Dijak got in her face. She sprayed liquid in his eyes. Kross hit Dijak with a drink, and fluid went everywhere. Back in the ring, Riddle put a trash can over Bishop’s head. Kross and Riddle took turns striking the garbage can with a kendo stick. (Bishop apparently is unable to lift that garbage can off his head.) Bishop hit Kross on the back and side of the head with a kendo stick, and he was loudly booed. Riddle pushed Bishop back into the ring, and he hit some Yes Kicks at 9:30. However, Bishop scooped him up and hit a DVD for a nearfall. Josh hit a chokeslam. Dijak nailed a moonsault on Riddle for a nearfall. Dijak yelled at Bishop to get a table. They were setting up for a team chokeslam, but Kross jumped back in and hit the heels with a kendo stick at 11:30.

All four brawled. Dijak and Bishop hit stereo low-blow uppercuts. Kross and Riddle pushed weapons back into the Skyscrapers’ faces. Riddle hit a Saito Suplex. Kross and Riddle hit stereo Diamond Cutters! However, Bishop popped up and threw Riddle to the floor. He nailed a release powerbomb on Kross through the table and pinned him! “How in the hell did Josh Bishop get up?” Dombrowski said. “Bishop shrugged it off!” Dombrowski added it’s the first time Kross has been pinned in MLW in his four-year run here.

“The Skyscrapers” Donovan Dijak and Joshua Bishop defeated Killer Kross and Matt Riddle at 13:47.

Final Thoughts: I continue to be entertained by what MLW has been doing this year. A good brawl to close the show. Plenty of weapons were used, but it didn’t get gross, and no one bled. Wolfgang vs. Damo was a good little brawl, too. No surprises with either winner in the Opera Cup tournament matches. (I have, by and large, avoided MLW spoilers, and of course, these matches are three months old now.)

For the second straight week, no mention of Don Gato. I’m certainly not complaining, but it’s strange that the character has vanished after being on quite literally every show for a year. (Did an ad/sponsorship deal expire?)

I know I’m redundant here, but I like the newer, younger roster. Give me more of LaBron Kozone, Brick Savage, Diego Hill, and Corinne Joy. I haven’t seen enough of Jumbo to really have a good sense of his skills, but the man is indeed quite large. The roster changes have generally worked for me.

<a class="spreaker-player"
