A few minutes into the match, they showed a roulette graphic on the big screen that stopped on The Demand, who came out as the third entrants. Connors speared Colten off the apron to eliminate him.<\/p>\n<p>The Conglomeration were the fourth entrants. Liona eliminated Austin Gunn a short time later. The Death Riders came out with Marina Shafir and entered through the crowd as the fifth entrants. Strong and Shafir squared off. Strong avoided a kick and then gave his wife a backbreaker. A short time later, Strong and O&#8217;Reilly were eliminated by a group of wrestlers.<\/p>\n<p>The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly were the sixth entrants. A group of wrestlers eliminated King. After several minutes passed, all of the remaining wrestlers were down in the ring. The broadcast team wondered who the final entrants would be. Excalibur closed the pre-show by telling fans to join them for the biggest pay-per-view of the year. He stopped on the entrance ramp and smiled. &#8220;New Level&#8221; Kofi and Austin Creed made their entrance to a big ovation from the crowd. Kofi and Creed eliminated Kaun and Liona. Cassidy eliminated Yuta, but then Ricochet eliminated Cassidy.<\/p>\n<p>Bandido had been down on the floor. He had his shoulder heavily taped and then dove onto a group of wrestlers. The tape fell off. Bandido ran the ropes for his 21 Plex finisher on Castagnoli, but Swerve cut him off with a kick. Swerve was going to charge toward Bandido, but Page cut in front of him. Swerve and Page jawed at one another. Ricochet tried to take a cheap shot, but they avoided it. Page performed a flip off Swerve&#8217;s back into the Buckshot Lariat on Ricochet.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-2051662818\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Swerve and Page bickered again until Kidd and Connors speared them simultaneously. The Dogs eliminated Bandido. White eliminated Connors. White eliminated Finlay after a fight on the apron. Ricochet kicked Page off the apron to eliminate him. Excalibur said that guaranteed there would be new champions.<\/p>\n<p>Kidd knocked White off the apron to eliminate him. Swerve eliminated Ricochet. The match came down to Swerve, Kofi, and Creed against The Death Riders&#8217; Castagnoli and Pac, and Kidd, who represented The Dogs. The heels thought they eliminated Kofi, but he hooked his feet on the bottom rope to save himself. Pac kicked Kofi, who fell to the mat. The broadcast team pointed out that Kofi&#8217;s feet never touched the mat. Nana helped wheelbarrow Kofi to the ring steps and then did his dance. Kofi returned to the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Swerve knocked Kidd off the apron with a House Call. Pac and Castagnoli clotheslined Swerve over the top rope, but he stayed on the apron. Kofi and Creed hit kicks on Pac and Castagnoli before clotheslining them over the top rope to eliminate them.<\/p>\n<p><i>Swerve Strickland and &#8220;New Level&#8221; Kofi and Austin Creed won the seven-team Trios Roulette Royale in 39:00 to win the AEW Trios Titles.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Nana entered the ring and danced with Kofi and Creed while the new champions celebrated their win&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> I like the idea of saving the Kofi and Creed debut for the main card rather than show it on the pre-show. I don&#8217;t think the mystery will hook people since it&#8217;s so easy to look it up online (right here at ProWrestling.net!), but perhaps some fans will do an impulse buy because they want to see Kofi and Creed&#8217;s first AEW appearance. The new match concept didn&#8217;t wow me, but it wasn&#8217;t a turnoff either. It was chaotic to follow, especially switching from the pre-show to the main card report, so my apologies if I missed some eliminations.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcast team remained Excalibur, Taz, Bryan Danielson, and Tony Schiavone, and Arkady Aura was the ring announcer&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Women&#8217;s Tag Team Title match. Renee Paquette spoke briefly from the pre-show desk between the match entrances&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. &#8220;Divine Dominion&#8221; Megan Bayne and Lena Kross vs. &#8220;The Brawling Birds&#8221; Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor for the AEW Women&#8217;s Tag Team Titles.<\/strong> Paul Turner was the referee. The challengers performed a double superplex on Bayne roughly nine minutes in. Hayter picked up a near fall. Bayne came back with a double German suplex. Kross tagged in, and then the champions went for a double-team move, but Hayter countered with a double DDT. Bayne and Kross no-sold it.<\/p>\n<p>The champions put Hayter down with a double-team move and then hit her with their finisher. Kross covered Hayter and had her pinned, but Windsor pulled Kross to the floor to break it up. Windsor put Bayne down with a German suplex on the apron. Hayter performed a backbreaker that made Excalibur do the obnoxious chuckling that he does in response to some big moves or violent spots. Hayter and Windsor hit Kross with Two Birds, One Stone, and then Hayter pinned her.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-2755309068\" class=\"prowr-content-5 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_3 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_3\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Brawling Birds&#8221; Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor defeated &#8220;Divine Dominion&#8221; Megan Bayne and Lena Kross in 11:40 to win the AEW Women&#8217;s Tag Team Titles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pyro shot off as the new champions celebrated. Excalibur said they were the first Brits to hold the AEW Women&#8217;s Tag Team Titles&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> It was a little rough to start, but it got better as the match went on. The crowd was pleased by the hometown gals winning in the expected title change. By the way, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WrestleTix\">WrestleTix<\/a> listed the venue as being set up for 47,961 with 47,054 tickets distributed. The total number of seats on the map is 93,556. The last time AEW ran the venue, 53,922 tickets were distributed for the August 25, 2024, All In event.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Continental Championship match. Nigel McGuinness made his entrance. Renee Paquette checked in from the pre-show desk with some comments. Jon Moxley slapped hands with the other Death Riders, and then had Marina Shafir slap him before he entered through the crowd&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Jon Moxley vs. Nigel McGuinness in the Continental Challenge Cup tournament final for the AEW Continental Championship.<\/strong> Stephon Smith was the referee. The broadcast team played up Nigel&#8217;s ankle injury and how infrequently he has wrestled this year. Moxley stomped Nigel&#8217;s bad left foot. Nigel fought back with a European uppercut that sent Moxley scurrying to the floor for a moment. Nigel wore a black armband with &#8220;Danny&#8221; written on it.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Nigel hit the Tower of London for a near fall. Moxley hooked Nigel in the LeBell Lock, but Nigel escaped and applied the same move on Moxley. Nigel released the hold and hooked Moxley&#8217;s eyes. Both men got to their feet. Nigel leaned into the ropes for a Jawbreaker Lariat, but Moxley dropped him with a cutter. Schiavone stated that there are no time limits in the Continental Cup matches.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley went after Nigel&#8217;s bad ankle. Nigel fired up, and then they traded strikes in the middle of the ring. Moxley threw a kick at Nigel, who backed into the ropes and then hit the Jawbreaker Lariat. Moxley went for a sleeper, but Nigel hit him with a ripcord lariat. Moxley went for a Jawbreaker Lariat, but Nigel dropped him with a big clothesline and got a two count. Moxley immediately applied the Bulldog Choke. Nigel teased tapping out, but he countered into the London Dungeon submission hold. Moxley teased tapping and then rolled out of it.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley applied an ankle lock. Nigel rolled him over into a pin for a nice near fall. Moxley went for the bad ankle again, but Nigel kicked him away. Moxley went for a sunset flip, but Nigel sat down on top of him and got another nice near fall. Moxley reapplied the ankle lock. Nigel struggled to get to the ropes and came up just short before tapping out.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jon Moxley defeated Nigel McGuinness in 17:15 in the Continental Challenge Cup tournament final to retain the AEW Continental Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the match, the Death Riders joined Moxley to celebrate his win. They grabbed the Continental Cup off its podium and then made their exit. Nigel sat up in the ring. The fans sang Nigel&#8217;s name. Nigel got to his feet and sold his ankle while bowing to the appreciative crowd&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Moxley was the heavy favorite, so it didn&#8217;t feel like there was much suspense going in, but they definitely made some believers with a couple of those great Nigel near falls. Will Moxley turn his focus back to Will Ospreay if he wins the main event?<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW International Championship match. Justin Roberts took over as the ring announcer. Konosuke Takeshita made the first entrance, followed by Kazuchika Okada, who had pyro. Don Callis was shown on the stage applauding as Okada headed to the ring. Kyle Fletcher made the final entrance while Callis applauded behind him on the stage. Fletcher also received some pyro&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Kyle Fletcher vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Kazuchika Okada in a three-way for the AEW International Title.<\/strong> Bryce Remsburg was the referee. Don Callis sat in on commentary (yes, a five-man commentary team). The bell rang, and there were some &#8220;holy shit&#8221; chants. Fletcher superkicked Okada, who tumbled to the floor.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, Fletcher lawn-darted Okada past Takeshita and into a turnbuckle pad. Okada recovered and went for a Rainmaker that Takeshita avoided. Takeshita hit Okada with a Rainmaker of his own, and then Fletcher hit Takeshita with his own Raging Fire finisher, leaving all three men down.<\/p>\n<p>Okada got up and pulled a screwdriver out of a turnbuckle pad. Fletcher saw it, and then Okada played innocent and gave him the screwdriver. Okada went for a Rainmaker that Fletcher avoided, and then Takeshita blasted Okada with an elbow strike. Takeshita performed a German suplex on Okada, then performed another on Fletcher and went for a double pin in a cool spot.<\/p>\n<p>Takeshita picked up the screwdriver, looked at it, and tossed it to the floor. Okada went for a clothesline that Takeshita ducked, and ended up taking out Fletcher. Okada threw a couple of clotheslines, but Fletcher came back with a Rainmaker. Fletcher went for a move in the corner that Okada avoided. Takeshita returned and hit Fletcher with a Helluva Kick. Fletcher stuffed a move on the ropes and then set up for a brainbuster from the ropes, but Takeshita countered into a DDT. Takeshita blasted Fletcher with a knee strike for a near fall. Okada hit Takeshita with a Rainmaker and went for the pin, but Fletcher broke it up.<\/p>\n<p>Okada played to the crowd while Fletcher and Takeshita stood up behind him. Fletcher turned around and was hit with elbow strikes from both men. Fletcher and Okada hit a superkick and rolling elbow simultaneously and cleared Okada from the ring. Fletcher and Takeshita squared off and threw strikes while Okada was down on the floor. Okada returned to the ring once they were both down on their knees, but Takeshita threw him to the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Takeshita hit a Blue Thunder Bomb on Fletcher, who then caught Takeshita with a kick in the corner. Fletcher performed a turnbuckle brainbuster on Takeshita. Okada hit Fletcher with a Rainmaker and then pinned him.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kazuchika Okada beat Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way in roughly 17:00 to win the AEW International Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Afterward, Callis entered the ring. Fletcher didn&#8217;t want to hand over the title belt to a smiling Okada, but he did after Callis spoke to him. Okada held out his arm. The fans chanted &#8220;no.&#8221; Callis told Fletcher he&#8217;d do it with him, and then they both raised Okada&#8217;s arms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> That was a lot of fun. I was looking forward to this match as much as anything on the card, and they came through with the best match of the night so far. I&#8217;m happy they didn&#8217;t turn Fletcher. He&#8217;ll be a great babyface someday, but he&#8217;s too good of a heel to turn, especially if there&#8217;s a babyface world champion at the end of the night.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the Casino Gauntlet match. Andrade El Idolo made his entrance with four women. MJF made his entrance wearing his Triple B title belt. MJF&#8217;s giant tapestry was unfurled once he was in the ring&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. The Casino Gauntlet match for a future shot at the AEW World Championship.<\/strong> The first two entrants were Andrade El Idolo and MJF. They fought, and then referee Bryce Remsburg called for the opening bell. MJF had his left thigh wrapped. Andrade got the better of MJF, pulled his pants down, and gave him a pelvic thrust to the head. Andrade finished removing his pants and had yellow trunks on underneath.<\/p>\n<p>Andrade ran across the ring, jumped on the middle rope, and then performed a corkscrew dive onto MJF on the floor. Schiavone spoke about how &#8220;freaking cool&#8221; Andrade is (which can only make him seem less cool). Andrade posed for a selfie with a woman in the front row.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 3 entrant was Nick Wayne, and he hit Andrade with a Poison Rana. Wayne looked like he was in pain after performing the move, but he got up and seemed okay. Once Wayne entered the ring, MJF pitched the idea of working together, which Wayne agreed to.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 4 entrant was Mike Bailey. Wayne went to the floor to greet him and was hit with a series of rapid-fire kicks. Bailey avoided MJF, who ended up on the floor. Bailey performed a tornado Asai Moonsault onto MJF and Wayne. Bailey got Wayne back in the ring and performed a shooting star press on Wayne and covered him for a two count.<\/p>\n<p>Andrade and Bailey squared off in the ring. MJF ran in, but they tossed him to the floor. Andrade and Bailey went to opposite corners and performed moonsaults onto their opponents. They stood up and charged at one another and threw simultaneous kicks, so everyone was down on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 5 entrant was Tommaso Ciampa, who had his elbow wrapped. The fans sang along with Ciampa&#8217;s entrance theme.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 6 entrant was Chris Jericho, who came out before Ciampa was down the entrance ramp. Ciampa ran up the ramp and was dropped by a Jericho punch. The fans sang along with Fozzy&#8217;s &#8220;Judas&#8221; while Jericho headed to the ring. Jericho and MJF ended up squaring off. Jericho put MJF in the Walls of Jericho.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 7 entrant was Mark Davis, and he broke up Jericho&#8217;s Walls of Jericho on MJF. Davis performed a piledriver on Bailey for a near fall. Ciampa entered the ring and ran toward Davis, who gave up on pinning Bailey and performed a piledriver on Ciampa. Davis also performed a piledriver on Wayne. MJF offered Davis a handshake, which he accepted, but he didn&#8217;t let go of MJF&#8217;s hand. Davis performed put MJF down with a piledriver and covered him for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 8 entrant was Komander, who performed a dive onto a group of wrestlers. Moments later, Jericho performed a huracanrana that pulled Davis off the ropes. Jericho clutched his left knee.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 9 entrant was Mistico. Some fans sang along with his entrance theme.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 10 entrant was Daniel Garcia, who attacked Mistico before he could enter the ring. Marina Shafir was with Garcia, and they put the boots to Mistico. Shafir slapped Garcia, who sold it, and then she headed to the back.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 11 entrant was Jack Perry, who had a flurry of offense before hooking Ciampa in a submission hold. Wayne broke it up with a splash.<\/p>\n<p>Later, MJF caught a Wayne kick. Wayne wanted to work together. MJF shook his hand and said it was on him. MJF kicked Wayne in the balls and then gave him a Heatseeker piledriver. Andrade hit MJF with a spinning back elbow and then pinned Wayne.<\/p>\n<p><em>Andrade won the Casino Gauntlet in 21:05 to earn a future shot at the AEW World Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Andrade or MJF felt like the favorites. I was hoping for some surprises, but no luck. I hope I didn&#8217;t miss any entrants. My glasses decided this was a good time to break randomly (I didn&#8217;t even touch them!), which led to scrambling to get a new pair. I&#8217;m back in business with a different pair.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Tag Team Title match. The Young Bucks made their entrance and greeted several family members in the front row. Adam Copeland made his entrance and had a lot of pyro. The fans sang his entrance theme after it stopped playing. Taz said Pearl Jam would be so proud. Excalibur quickly noted that it&#8217;s an Alter Bridge song. Christian Cage&#8217;s entrance followed&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs. &#8220;The Young Bucks&#8221; Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson for the AEW Tag Team Titles.<\/strong> Yes, of course, Rick Knox was the referee. The fans sang the &#8220;Hey, Baby&#8221; song that&#8217;s normally reserved for Bayley, but they sang it for Christian with the line, &#8220;I wanna know if you&#8217;ll be my dad.&#8221; The broadcast team was giddy over Christian performing a snapmare at one point.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Bucks set up for one of their signature spots, but Nick slipped on the top rope. Matt checked on his brother. Christian kicked Matt in the balls. Nick got up, but Christian put him right back down with a cutter. Copeland and Cage hit a 3D on Matt for a near fall. The challengers performed a double superplex on Matt. Nick returned with a 450 splash onto Copeland and Cage. Nick sold his ankle.<\/p>\n<p>The Bucks set up Christian for a BTE Trigger, but they whipped him into a Copeland spear instead. Matt speared Copeland. The Bucks hit Christian with the BTE Trigger, and then Nick covered him until Copeland broke up the pin. The Bucks set up Christian for a Meltzer Driver (or whatever they&#8217;re calling it now), but Copeland speared Nick in midair. Christian hit the Unprettier on Matt and then launched him into a spear from Copeland. Christian covered Matt for a nice near fall. &#8220;F&#8212;,&#8221; Christian yelled in frustration over not getting the pin.<\/p>\n<p>Christian went to the floor and returned with a title belt, which Knox took away. The announcers said it was a red herring because Christian pulled some type of tool out of his wrist brace. Matt rolled up Christian for a two count. Christian went for an Unprettier, but Matt shoved him into the corner toward Knox, who ducked and missed when Christian hit Matt with the tool. Christian tossed Matt into a spear from Copeland, and then Christian covered Matt for the win.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defeated &#8220;The Young Bucks&#8221; Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson in roughly 20:00 to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the match, &#8220;The Motor City Machine Guns&#8221; Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin made their entrance and then entered the ring and locked eyes with Copeland and Christian.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FTR&#8221; Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler made their entrance with Stokely Hathaway and joined the other three teams in the ring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;New Level&#8221; Kofi and Austin Creed made their entrance with their trios title belts over their shoulders and then entered the ring. Copeland and Christian exited with their title belts while Copeland&#8217;s entrance theme played&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> I had the Bucks going over, so the outcome surprised me. The teams created some good suspense down the stretch. I enjoyed the post-match tag team summit, which showed off how loaded the division is thanks to the new additions of New Level and MCMG. By the way, it&#8217;s dark in England, and the venue looks great. The stage is really impressive now that it&#8217;s dark.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the TNT Title match. Six female dancers performed on the stage as part of Kevin Knight&#8217;s entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Excalibur announced the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view will be in Liverpool, England, on Sunday, February 7, and Dynamite will be at London&#8217;s 02 Arena on February 10. Darby Allin skateboarded down the ramp&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> If WWE takes the usual approach of holding the Royal Rumble on the Saturday of the weekend in between the NFL&#8217;s conference championship games and the Super Bowl, then we&#8217;re looking at the Rumble on Saturday and Dynasty on that same Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Kevin Knight vs. Darby Allin in a Falls Count Anywhere match for the TNT Title.<\/strong> Knight went for a belt shot, but Darby ducked it. Referee Aubrey Edwards called for the bell. Darby charged Knight and turned his back to him for some reason, and Knight hit him with the belt from behind. Darby came up bleeding from the back of his head.<\/p>\n<p>Knight pulled a table out from underneath the ring. Darby performed a suicide dive that drove the table into Knight. Darby worked over Knight on the floor and moved the ring steps. Knight avoided whatever move Darby wanted to perform on the steps, but Darby hit him with a shotgun dropkick. Knight whipped Darby toward the steps, but Darby dove over them. Knight ran up the steps, jumped off the apron, and hit Darby with a flying elbow. Knight had Darby seated on the table when he dove from the ring onto him.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Cage and Jake Doyle ran in to help Knight. They positioned six chairs back-to-back in the middle of the ring. Cage backdropped Darby, who landed with his groin over the top of the chairs. Danielson said he&#8217;d never seen anything like that in his life. The heels taped Darby&#8217;s hands behind his back and worked him over.<\/p>\n<p>Steven Borden came out with a chair and went after the heels. Doyle ended up putting Borden down. Cage scooped up Borden while Doyle went to the ropes, but Borden slipped away and took out Cage before dropkicking Doyle. Darby showed some signs of life, but the heels got the better of him and Borden. Cage put Darby in a tree of woe. Knight went to the ropes for his Coast-to-Coast move.<\/p>\n<p>Sting made his entrance to Metallica&#8217;s &#8220;Seek and Destroy.&#8221; Sting worked over Cage and Doyle with his baseball bat and then entered the ring and looked at Knight. Sting faked out Knight with the bat and then tossed it to Darby, who hit him with it. Sting performed a Scorpion Death Drop on Knight.<\/p>\n<p>Borden set up a tall ladder in the ring. Sting and Steven climbed opposite sides of the ladder, and then Sting opted to let his son do his thing. Steven dove off the ladder onto Cage and Doyle on the floor, which got some &#8220;holy shit&#8221; chants. Sting and Borden worked over Cage and Doyle on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Darby went after Knight, and they ended up on the stage. Darby climbed up part of the stage set and performed a big Coffin Drop onto Knight, and they went through the stage (presumably onto a padded area below). Darby crawled out of the pit they landed in and found Knight, who was on a stretcher on the floor being tended to by EMTs. Darby started cussing and then performed a Coffin Drop off the stage onto Knight to knock him off the stretcher. Darby covered Knight for the win&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Darby Allin defeated Kevin Knight in a Falls Count Anywhere match to win the TNT Title.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Darby is insane regardless of any padding used during that stunt, but that&#8217;s nothing we didn&#8217;t already know. The Sting and son moment was a lot of fun. Darby hitting the Coffin Drop while Knight was on the stretcher was a callback to Knight doing the same thing after Darby lost the AEW World Championship to MJF at AEW Double or Nothing.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Women&#8217;s Championship match. Thekla was shown in the Royal Box. Six ballerinas danced on the stage as part of Mercedes Mone&#8217;s entrance. A video aired with a fairy-tale theme and a narrator straight out of a Disney movie, and then Willow Nightingale made her entrance. Pyro shot off. Renee Paquette spoke from the pre-show desk&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Mon\u00e9 for the AEW Women\u2019s Championship.<\/strong> Aubrey Edwards was the referee. Nigel McGuinness replaced Taz at the broadcast table. Nigel was seated in a wheelchair to sell his ankle injury. Willow had her injured hand covered with a black brace. Willow sent Mon\u00e9 to the floor and then hit her with a cannonball dive off the apron. Back in the ring, Willow hit Mon\u00e9 with a series of shots in the corner. Mon\u00e9 tried to whip her across the ring, but Willow did a cartwheel and then clotheslined Mon\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Mon\u00e9 went for a baseball slide kick, but it looked like one of her feet hit the ropes. Mon\u00e9 went for a huracanrana, but Willow caught her and swung her into the barricade. Mone was reaching for her nose before she took the move. Back in the ring, Willow performed a crossbody block on a kneeling Mone and got a two count.<\/p>\n<p>Mone&#8217;s nose was a bloody mess when she stood up, and the crowd gasped when they saw it. Mone went on the offensive until Willow cut it off with a suplex off the apron to the floor. Back in the ring, Willow performed a backbreaker and followed up with a big boot. Willow went to the ropes, but Mone cut her off and then stood on the ropes while applying a Kimura. Willow slammed Mone to the mat and then hit her with a missile dropkick that led to a near fall. Schiavone said it might be the hardest-hitting women&#8217;s title match they&#8217;d ever seen. Mone performed a Backstabber. Willow cut off Mone on the ropes and then hit a Spanish Fly for another near fall.<\/p>\n<p>Mone applied a Statement Maker and rolled into a pin that Willow avoided. Willow powered her up and then performed a Death Valley Driver into a corner of the ring. Willow went for a cannonball, but Mone moved. Mone charged for a move and was kicked in the but. Willow fired up by banging her head on the top turnbuckle pad. Willow slipped on the ropes, and then Mone hit her from behind. Willow put Mone down and then went back up top and executed a moonsault for a near fall (it looked like Willow was going to come up short, so Mone rolled into it &#8211; ouch).<\/p>\n<p>Willow went for a Doctor Bomb, but Mone countered and ended up backing Willow face-first into a turnbuckle that was apparently exposed earlier in the match. Mone hit her Moneymaker finisher, but Willow kicked out. Mone punched Willow&#8217;s bad hand. Mone and referee Aubrey Edwards bickered. Willow performed a Pounce that sent Mone crashing into Edwards&#8217; legs (another ouch). Mone had Willow on the floor and took shots at her hand. Willow rallied, got Mone back in the ring, and powerbombed her. Referee Edwards recovered and made the count for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>Willow performed a Buckle Bomb into the exposed turnbuckle. Willow sat on the top turnbuckle and pulled Mone up with her. Willow set up for a move, but Mone flipped her to the mat with a huracanrana. Mone hit a Backstabber. Mone set up for a Moneymaker, but Willow countered with a backslide for a near fall. Mone drilled Willow with a knee strike. Willow came back with a Doctor Bomb attempt, but Mone countered into the Statement Maker. Willow reached for the ropes, but she eventually faded. As Willow reached out her hand, Mone kicked it. The referee called for the bell.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale in roughly 22:00 to win the AEW Women&#8217;s Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Afterward, Edwards gave the belt to Mone, who held it up while pyro shot off around the stadium. Mone knelt and said something to Willow before walking across her back and exiting the ring&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> They&#8217;re going to feel that match in the morning. It wasn&#8217;t always pretty, but it was gritty and suspenseful. Willow deserves credit for working through the hand injury, as does Mone for shrugging off the likely broken nose. I wonder if Mone winning was the plan before Willow suffered the hand injury less than a week before the show.<\/p>\n<p>Excalibur announced Mone&#8217;s championship celebration, and Swerve Strickland, Kofi, and Austin Creed vs. &#8220;The Rascalz&#8221; Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed for the AEW Trios Titles for Wednesday&#8217;s Dynamite&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A Will Ospreay video package aired. &#8220;Baba O&#8217;Riley&#8221; by The Who played. Ospreay was shown walking backstage. He stopped and hugged his United Empire allies Callum Newman, Henare, and Francesco Akira, who followed him as he walked. Zack Sabre Jr. nodded to Ospreay, who then walked past Michael Oku and Amira, as well as Ricochet. Swerve Strickland also popped up. Ospreay encountered Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher (I think) as he walked through a tunnel. He hugged and kissed his wife, Alex Windsor. The United Empire trio helped him put on his robe. Jon Moxley was waiting by the entrance and handed Ospreay a Union Jack flag. Moxley nodded and smiled. Ospreay&#8217;s entrance theme played, and then he made his entrance to a huge hometown reaction. A really cool sequence.<\/p>\n<p>A Kenny Omega video package aired with what sounded like the New Japan Pro Wrestling narrator (subtitles were shown). Omega walked onto the stage. Omega&#8217;s entrance theme played as he stood on the stage. Omega held his arms in the air, and then pyro shot off on the stage and around the stadium. Omega looked into the camera and talked before walking to the ring. &#8220;The Young Bucks&#8221; Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson walked out behind Omega, and they met up on the entrance ramp. Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler also showed up at the bottom of the ramp&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Kenny Omega (w\/Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Michael Nakazawa, Brandon Cutler) vs. Will Ospreay (w\/Callum Newman, Henare, Francesco Akira) for the AEW World Championship.<\/strong> Paul Turner was the referee, and he wasted no time in calling for the opening bell, as the match started 22 minutes before the top of the hour. Excalibur noted that both men had seconds in their corner and said it&#8217;s customary in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Omega targeted Ospreay&#8217;s neck, and the crowd gasped when he performed a neckbreaker. Ospreay rolled onto the apron. Omega removed the padding over the middle turnbuckle outside the ring. Omega used his foot to grind Ospreay&#8217;s neck over the exposed turnbuckle. Ospreay came back with a Phenomenal Forearm. Ospreay dropped Omega with a kick and then went for a standing corkscrew moonsault, but Omega put his knees up. Omega went for a move that Ospreay countered with a Stun Dog Millionaire.<\/p>\n<p>Ospreay caught Omega on the middle rope and threw a kick through Omega&#8217;s legs that hit him in the head. Ospreay performed a sunset bomb. Ospreay hit a spinning guillotine kick and covered Omega for a two count. Omega rolled to the floor and then performed a corkscrew dive from the top rope. Ospreay broke the count and went after Omega, who slammed his head on a table. Omega kicked Ospreay, who crashed into the side of the broadcast table.<\/p>\n<p>Omega tried to pull a table out of the timekeeper&#8217;s area, but Ospreay broke it up. They fought next to the broadcast table. The referee tried to pull away Ospreay, who turned and shoved him to the mat. Omega hit Ospreay with the title belt. The seconds from both wrestlers bickered. Referees ran out to keep them apart. Omega performed a sit-out powerbomb off the broadcast table and through the other table. Ospreay came up bleeding heavily and barely beat the referee&#8217;s count. Omega drilled him with a V-Trigger.<\/p>\n<p>Omega dominated Ospreay and eventually sat him on the top rope facing the crowd. Omega went up behind him for a snap dragon suplex. Ospreay fought back. Omega eventually placed Ospreay in the Electric Chair position while standing on the middle rope and then hit him with a German suplex. Omega drilled Ospreay with several knee strikes to the head. The referee stepped in because Ospreay was under the bottom rope. Omega executed a couple of snap dragon suplexes and then a knee strike to the back of Ospreay&#8217;s head. Omega ran the ropes and was hit with a Hidden Blade that left both men down. (The show reached the four-hour mark, meaning the show is running longer than Tony Khan said it would.)<\/p>\n<p>Omega and Ospreay traded strikes in the middle of the ring. Omega was cut and bleeding around his left eye. Ospreay headbutted Omega and then kicked him when he was on the mat. Omega stood up and was caught with a hook kick and then a rolling elbow. Ospreay delivered an elbow to the back of Omega&#8217;s head. Ospreay tried to throw more while Omega was down on the mat, but the referee stepped in, but it wasn&#8217;t the end of the match. Omega got to his knees, and the count hit nine when Ospreay drilled him with a Hidden Blade that led to a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>Omega came back with a V-Trigger, but Ospreay hit a nice flurry of moves that he capped off with a Styles Clash for a near fall. Ospreay went for a Stormbreaker, but Omega drilled him with a knee strike. Both men got back to their feet and traded punches. Ospreay ran the ropes, but Omega followed and hit him with a V-Trigger. Omega performed another and then went for a Poison Rana, but Ospreay landed on his feet. They ran the ropes, and Omega dropped him with a V-Trigger. Omega hit the Tiger Driver 91. Omega followed up with a V-Trigger. Omega hit the One Winged Angel and went for the pin, but Ospreay kicked out at the very last moment. The fans popped huge.<\/p>\n<p>Both men ended up seated next to the bottom rope. Omega talked shit and then stood up and hit him with a V-Trigger. Omega went for another One Winged Angel, but Ospreay slipped away and put Omega down with a Tiger Driver (good lord, Omega landed right on his head). A &#8220;this is awesome chant broke out. Omega clutched his left arm, while the announcers assumed it was numb. Ospreay swung and missed before falling to the mat. Danielson said there was no way that Omega&#8217;s vertebrae were not compressed from the Tiger Driver. Ospreay stuffed a V-Trigger. Ospreay hit the One Winged Angel for a near fall. Ospreay hit a Hidden Blade and a Stormbreaker, but Omega kicked out at one again. Ospreay removed his elbow pad, pointed at Omega with a finger gun, and then drilled him with a Hidden Blade before covering him for the win.<\/p>\n<p><i>Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega in 34:25 to win the AEW World Championship.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Ospreay was on his knees and had his face in his hands. The referee handed the title belt to the emotional Ospreay, and then pyro shot off in and around the stadium. Ospreay stood in the ring with the belt while Omega was still down. The Bucks checked on Omega from the floor. Ospreay stood on the middle rope and held up the title belt to end the show fifteen minutes past the listed end time.<\/p>\n<p>The feed returned on YouTube TV. A friend who uses that service told me that Ospreay helped Omega to his feet. Omega gave the belt to Ospreay and then they hugged before Ospreay helped him walk out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> An awesome main event with the expected and correct finish. It was fun to hear the live crowd come to life at key points for Ospreay&#8217;s comebacks. The Tiger Driver looked horrific, and I continue to question whether such moves are worth the risk. Omega seemed fine, but let&#8217;s hope that&#8217;s still the case once the adrenaline wears off. Putting that aside, this was a great main event with the satisfying big event finish. I also like that the show ran a little long (there&#8217;s a first!) so that it wasn&#8217;t obvious when the finish would occur.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, a strong stadium show. It lived up to the hype of being the company&#8217;s biggest event of the year. It looked major league and was newsworthy, with the title changes and some fun surprises.
