McKenzie Mitchell was the ring announcer. Gia Miller was the backstage interviewer…

Mustafa Ali was in the ring with Order 4 for a promo segment. Ali talked about having a problem, crisis, and state of emergency. Ali talked about Jason Hotch becoming the new TNA International Champion live in front of his wife and daughter. Ali said Hotch is not a good man. Ali said Hotch is not the man of his household, Ali is.

Ali said the toys that his daughter plays with and the clothes on his wife’s body are all because of Ali. Ali said after all he did for Hotch and his family, he had the audacity to stab him in the back. A “you deserve it” chant ensued. Ali said he deserves loyalty. Ali told John Skyler to prove that he’s the most loyal attack dog by fighting Jason Hotch later in the night. Ali said the match won’t be for the title, but to prove his loyalty…

John’s Thoughts: Simple and effective segment to move forward the drama in the Order 4 faction. This feud is very similar to the feud last year that was so good, where Skyler and Hotch were feuding with Ali over the summer; but it’s different enough with different pieces making this interesting, like having a title involved or even having the addition of Mila Moore and Agent Zero around. So far so good with the patient storytelling, as it will also allow Hotch to marinate as champion and as a part of this presumed youth movement in the company.

Gia Miller interviewed TNA International Champion Jason Hotch and asked him his thoughts on his upcoming matches against John Skyler and Mustafa Ali. Ali said he doesn’t have words because John Skyler is his best friend. He talked about Skyler being so much family to him, his daughter calls him “Uncle John”. Hotch said Ali talks too much. Hotch said he won’t wrestle John Skyler tonight.

Daria Rae showed up and told Skyler that he’ll have to wrestle John Skyler or else risk suspension or being stripped of the title. Rae told Hotch to be a professional and left…

Rich Swann and BDE made their entrance first. Rich Swann was so hyped up for his entrance dance, that he accidentally crashed into McKenzie Mitchell, causing her to let out a loud “AHHHH”. The Personal Concierge made his entrance. The Concierge said Mr. Elegance smells incredible. Mr. Elegance and the rest of the Elegance Brand made their entrance. Hannifan pointed out how Mr. Elegance is undefeated in singles competition…

1. Rich Swann (w/BDE) vs. Mr. Elegance (w/The Personal Concierge, M, Heather). Swann took down Elegance with a dropkick. M got on the apron, which allowed Heather to hit Rich with a Tornado DDT. Elegance worked on Swann with methodical offense for a few minutes. Swann got a window of opportunity after a reverse Bulldog.

Swann did a dance into a CQC combo and running Splash. Elegance recovered and hit Swann with One Final Beat for a nearfall. Elegance went for his Reverse Sister Abagail finisher, but Swann rolled up Elegance for the win.

Rich Swann defeated Mr. Elegance via pinfall in 5:40.

Tom Hannifan pointed out how this was the first time Mr. Elegance has been pinned in TNA. Vincent and Dutch appeared at the top of the ramp to scout BDE. They also showed Mr. Elegance throwing a fit at ringside…

Matthew Rehwoldt hyped upcoming segments…[c]

John’s Thoughts: While I would have liked them to utilize whatever equity they had in Mr. Elegance’s so-called undefeated streak, I don’t mind them using it on Rich Swann given that Mr. Elegance is a comedy character and Rich Swann is a former world champion.

Entrances for the upcoming Semi Finals match took place…

2. Jada Stone vs. M by Elegance (w/Mr. Elegance, The Personal Concierge, Heather) in a semi-final match of the TNA Knockouts TV Title Tournament. Both women traded rapid rollups and counters. Jada went for a slingshot, but Heather tripped her off the top rope. Heather worked on Jada with methodical offense.

Hannifan pointed out Mr. Elegance looking more serious after his loss. Jada blocked a face driver with a cartwheel. Jada slammed Heather to the mat and hit her with a split legged moonsault for a two count. Both women traded rapid pin attempts. Heather rolled to the ropes after eating a standing double stomp. Jada gave Heather rapid overhead strikes. Heather came back with a German Suplex on the apron.

Jada gave Heather a Huracanrana from the apron to the floor. I was kinda hoping for the Elegance vs. Elegance matchup between Heather and M. That would have had a fun intrafaction dynamic, especially since both women wrestle against each other on the indies and are both Seth Rollins trainees. Only reason I see them not going that way is due to them wanting to keep the Elegance Brand going a little longer (have we heard where Ash is?).

The show cut to a Zoom call between Xia Brookside and Elayna Black. Black said she was just having fun at Xia’s expense last week to give her some humility. Xia said that truthfully, the only thing that has been embarrassing is Elayna’s call for attention. Xia said Elayna has been barking up every tree she could find, saying she’s the greatest Knockout in TNA history.

Xia said you are only lying to yourself because you don’t have a title. Elayna said Xia’s days are numbered at Lockdown. Elayna talked about how she’s going to win the title in her hometown of Chicago. Xia said if she gloated like Elayna, she’d be telling the truth. Xia said Lei Ying Lee found out the hard way and we’ll never see her again. She said she also sent Wendy Choo packing to NXT. Xia said at Lockdown, Elayna’s friends and family will see her fail. Before turning off the call, Elayna said “I can’t wait to shut this bitch up”…

Tom Hannifan hyped upcoming segments…[c]

John’s Thoughts: While the Zoom format made it look low budget, I thought this was one of Elayna Black’s better promo segments. She just kinda hit a wall for a long time as a heel, to the point where her promos were really resonating. Here, it looked like she felt comfortable and poise. Maybe she just stalled out as a heel and needed the babyface turn? I also wonder if this is a long term babyface turn, or if they only turned her for her hometown (I only say this because they randomly did this with Nic Nemeth one time when they went to Cleveland).

The Elegance Brand were backstage, sulking over Mr. Elegance’s and Heather’s losses. The Concierge told them to get on the same page because they’ll get the tag titles back at Lockdown. He reminded them that It’ll be two on one because Allie can’t find Rosemary. The Concierge also said that M will be the first Knockouts TV Champion…

Fabien Aichner got a televised entrance for the next match. Brian Myers attacked Fabien Aichner before the bell rang…

3. Fabien Aichner vs. Brian Myers for the advantage in the Lethal Lockdown Match. Myers worked on Aichner with methodical offense. Aichner caught Myers with a clothesline, baseball slide, and springboard crossbody to ringside.[c]

Myers worked on Aichner with methodical offense. Aichner came back with a running crossbody, rolling senton, and springboard moonsault for a two count. Myers came back with a kick combination into an Edgeucution for a nearfall. Aichner used a boot to dump Myers to ringside. Aichner did an impressive tightrope walk dive to ringside and then hit Myers with a Slingshot DDT for a nearfall.

Aichner flipped into his Crossface submission. Myers managed to get a finger to the bottom rope. Myers gave Aichner a “legal” low blow by kicking the middle rope. Myers gave Aichner a Spear for a good nearfall. Aichner avoided a roster cut, but sent Myers into the Referee. This allowed Myers to hit Aichner with another low blow kick. Myers hit Aichner with a Roster Cut for the victory.

Brian Myers defeated Fabien Aichner via pinfall in 11:55 to earn the advantage in the Lethal Lockdown Match for his team.

John’s Thoughts: I was wondering how they were going to have the heel win, since Fabien Aichner is several tiers up the ladder compared to Brian Myers in terms of who you should be protecting. I liked this finish as it elevates Brian Myers, makes Myers pluck out a heel win, and protects Aichner with the two low blows. Reason I assumed Myers would win is the heel team should have advantage in a WarGames match, or else it’s a bit awkward. WWE has subverted this expectation several times in the last decade to some good, some meh results. It’s safer to just go with the heel winning as that’s a storytelling beat that doesn’t need to be tinkered with, or else the storytelling beat gets tempered.

It was time for the TNA Sponsored Injury Report (now sponsored by that electrolyte drink company that sponsors their announce desk). Jeff Hardy is “cleared” with a back injury after last week’s TNA Title match. Extra medical staff will be around for Lethal Lockdown. Hannifan reluctantly sent it to Rehwoldt to do his weekly Nic Nemeth glazing segment. Nic Nemeth’s status was a whole few sentences I won’t transcribe…

John’s Thoughts: It was cute at first, but the Nic Nemeth glazing segments from Rehwoldt are eye rollingly bad. In that it’s not heat, but cringe.

The show cut to a facetime call between Harley Hudson and TNA Hall of Famer Traci Brooks. Harley talked about being extra nervous due to everyone telling her that her contract will be terminated if she loses to Alisha Edwards. Traci said Harley is forgetting what it means to be a TNA Knockout.

Traci said the Knockouts are strong and empower other women. She said they were doing it before other companies. Traci said the company, herself, and the fans believe in Harley. Traci said Harley needs to remember who she is and that she’s a TNA Knockout. Harley said she won’t let Traci and the TNA fans down. Traci wished Harley luck…

Entrances for the next match took place. Before the bell could ring, Jason Hotch took the mic and said he considers John Skyler his best friend and family. He said he has to wrestle Skyler to keep his title and job. He said they don’t have to beat the crap out of each other, but instead give the great fans of Philadelphia a great pro wrestling match. Hotch and Skyler shook hands before the lockup…

4. TNA International Champion Jason Hotch vs. John Skyler in a non-title match. Both men started the match with chain wrestling. Hotch and Skyler had a stalemate. Hannifan noted that both men weren’t throwing strikes. A picture-in-picture showed Mustafa Ali throwing a fit backstage due to Skyler and Hotch having a respectful mat wrestling match. Ali sent Mila Moore away to fix things.

Mila Moore got a mic and ordered Skyler to take Hotch out, not wrestle. Random Secret Service guys swarmed the ring and were thrown out by Hotch. Agent Zero gave Hotch a big boot for the DQ.

Jason Hotch defeated John Skyler via apparent DQ in 3:07.

Ali put an Order 4 lapel pin on the fallen Hotch before putting the International Title on him…

John’s Thoughts: Simple segment to put some heat on Ali. I’m a bit disappointed that they really didn’t try to play into John Skyler’s allegiance during this match even though they set up something regarding it.

A Righteous vignette aired where Vincent and Dutch continue to try to recruit BDE into their weirdo hippie cult…

Entrances for the next match took place. Daria Rae joined the commentary table…

5. Alisha Edwards (w/Eddie Edwards) vs. Harley Hudson. Hudson slapped Alisha early on. Hudson went for rapid rollups. Eddie distracted Harley, which allowed Alisha to shove Harley into the ringpost. Alisha worked on Harley with methodical offense for a few minutes. Harley rallied back with clotheslines. Harley hit Alisha with two Hip Attacks and an Exploder Suplex.

Alisha raked Harley in the eyes and gave her a Flatliner for a nearfall. Alisha tried to pin Harley again, but Harley rolled up Alisha for the victory.

Harley Hudson defeated Alisha Edwards via pinfall in 6:28.

Alisha attacked Harley after the match. I don’t even think the crowd knew that Harley’s career was on the line because they were pretty tepid for this match. Even if they did know, I don’t think they’ve built up a connection between Harley and the audience yet. Career threatening matches should be dramatic, fun, and epic in person (I remember being in the arena for Nic Nemeth vs. Miz in a career threatening match at Sacramento and it was wonderful). Instead they just blew through it here.

A hype package aired for the Cedric Alexander vs. Leon Slater Title vs. Record match…

John’s Thoughts: Ugh, this goofy-ass, TNA-ass, stipulation. So if Leon Slater loses, do we all get mind wiped? As a person who grew up in Los Angeles where Reggie Bush and Pete Carroll got their “legacies” wiped from the record books, that doesn’t wipe the fact away that they actually won those championship games I watched.

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt checked in on commentary. They then ran through the advertised TNA Lockdown and pre-show card…

The Nemeths made their entrance…[c]

Elijah made his entrance with him doing his own ring announcement. Elijah hit Ryan with a random F5 for a nearfall.[c]

John’s Thoughts: Has super old school Undertaker allowed Elias, who was a coworker of his, to steal his moveset? And now he’s stealing Brock Lesnar moves? Does Elijah just want to be a create-a-wrestler from the WWE 2K games?

The heels cut the ring in half on Elijah. Moose caught the hot tag. Moose gave Ryan a Uranage and Senton. Moose gave Nic the Go to Hell for a nearfall. Moose ran off Matt to give Nic Poetry in Motion. Matt hit Nic with a Side Effect for a two count. Nic gave Matt a superkick and tagged in Ryan. Ryan did the Jeff Hardy dance. Frankie tagged in and worked on Matt with Methodical offense.

Matt got a moment of respite with a clothesline. AJ tagged in to cut off Matt. AJ worked on Matt with methodical offense. Matt reversed AJ with a Super Side Effect. Jeff tagged in and cleaned house with his signature leg drop moves. In the stinger segment, TNA X Division Champion Cedric Alexander was laid out next to a guardrail backstage. Rehwoldt reminded viewers that Moose was randomly laid out backstage last week. Impact closed…

John’s Thoughts: To touch on the stinger first, last week they teased that Frankie Kazarian might have attacked Moose, but this week they’ve laid out a heel to set up a whodunit. Given the timing, I’m going to assume it’s a wrestler from the last set of WWE releases? Aleister Black is the biggest singles name, but I think he’s more MLW bound. Could be a faction?

If this is a free agent, my wild guess would be Samuel Shaw (Dexter Lumis), who played his Patrick Bateman serial killer character in TNA even before WWE (speaking of releases, where the F is Uhaa Nation? According to Twitter, I think he’s back in Japan?). As far as the main event was concerned, it was aight. Hard work with a lot of the more popular wrestlers on the roster. That said, it was your usual “All star tag team main event” that are a dime a dozen in pro wrestling. TNA’s Lockdown card looks decent, but at the same time the lack of real stakes makes it feel like a TNA Plus show instead of a PPV. They haven’t done TNA Plus shows in a while, but should you pay full price for something that came with the subscription before?

<div id="prowr-1796602791" class="prowr-after-content
