Mike Rome was the ring announcer&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Vic announced that Zilla Fatu will sign his NXT later in the show&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Cruz Montana made his entrance through the crowd to the ring. The crowd chanted Cruz&#8217;s name to the beat of his theme music. Cruz immediately called out Zilla. Cruz said he made his intentions clear, he&#8217;s not here to fill a spot, but take one. Cruz said he made it clear he was going after the NXT title. Cruz said Zilla added himself to that list for costing him a shot at the title. Cruz said he doesn&#8217;t give a damn what the world is talking about Zilla, because he&#8217;s not letting Zilla take what&#8217;s his.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz said he&#8217;s a proud Broiqua from the streets of New York. A random stagehand told Cruz that Zilla wasn&#8217;t here. Before Cruz can continue his promo, AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix made his entrance. Fenix said it was great to see Cruz again (going back to the Lucha Bros vs. LAX days). Fenix said he&#8217;s only here to see who&#8217;s challenging him for his title. He said he also doesn&#8217;t want anyone taking away his match.<\/p>\n<p>Fenix said he has Cruz&#8217;s back. Cruz said he and Fenix have gone through hell and back in the indies, AAA, and TNA (no mention of AEW? I kid). Cruz said he respects how proud Fenix represents the Latino culture. Cruz wished Fenix luck later. Cruz said he&#8217;s then going to wait for Zilla to show up in the most dangerous place in WWE, the NXT Parking Lot. Fenix and Cruz dapped it up to end the segment&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> A fun crossing of paths between two longtime rivals over the years. As much as I disliked the Lucha Bros. as a tag team (I always thought Penta and Fenix as a tag team wasted both men&#8217;s abilities), LAX vs. Lucha Bros was absolute sauce over the years! Cruz Montana is a much bigger and stronger wrestler these days. Rey Fenix is back to being his best self, a singles wrestler self. I wouldn&#8217;t mind this leveled up run-back.<\/p>\n<p>EK Prosper made his entrance, dapping it up with Fenix on his way to the ring. Mr. England Tristan Angels was out next. Angels made sure to tell the cameraperson that he&#8217;s 231 lbs. making him a cruiserweight. Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar were out next. The current AAA La Parka was out last. Booker joked &#8220;I wrestled that guy&#8221;, and wondered how he&#8217;s still young&#8230;<\/p><div id=\"prowr-310769109\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>1. Prosper caught Mr. England with a dive. Moreno caught Prosper with a PK. Moreno dropkicked Prosper to cause him to DDT Parka. Angels dumped Prosper and Moreno to ringside. Parka hit Angels with Muay Thai knees and a dropkick. Parka gave Moreno a flapjack.<\/p>\n<p>Prosper hit Parka with a thrust kick. Prosper hit Moreno with an Atomic Drop. Prosper kicked off Moreno&#8217;s chest to hit Parka with a Moonasult. Moreno dumped all three opponents to ringside. Moreno hit Angels and Prosper with a High Fly Flow to ringside. Parka hit the three opponents with a Top Rope Triangle Moonsault.[c]<\/p>\n<p>Parka took out Angels with a flip. Moreno took out Parka and Prosper with a Missile Dropkick. Prosper caught Moreno with a Tornado DDT. Angels dragged Prosper in the ring with a Suplex. Moreno broke up Tristan&#8217;s pin. Moreno suplexed Angels to set him up. Parka ran up the ropes and gave Moreno a Super Spanish Fly. Prosper broke up Parka&#8217;s pin with a Frog Splash.<\/p>\n<p>Angels staggered Moreno with a kick. Prosper kicked Angels to the mat. Moreno fell on Angels. Parka broke up Moreno&#8217;s accidental pin. Parka gave Moreno an Exploder. Moreno kicked out when Angels tried to steal the pin. Prosper jumped off Moreno&#8217;s back to hit Angels with Ruff Ryder. Prosper hit Moreno with a Knee Plus and Moonsault for the victory.<\/p>\n<p><em>EK Prosper defeated Romeo Moreno, La Parka, and Tristan Angels via pinfall in 10:28 to earn a title shot at the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thea Hail vs. Nattie was hyped for after the break&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> A fun spotfest opener. While they did say it was for the Cruiserweight title, Moreno, Angels, and Prosper were larger than your usual cruiserweight. That didn&#8217;t hurt though because it was fast paced and smooth action. Good mix of styles too with Moreno and Angels providing more of a grounded style to counter the high flyers. Moreno was the right person to take the pin, as he&#8217;s characterized as a &#8220;rookie&#8221;. One thing I hope WWE doesn&#8217;t do overall though is sacrifice their AAA talent to WWE roster members because that&#8217;s sorta been the trend on Raw the last few weeks to set up their big AAA show in a few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Vic Joseph plugged WWE&#8217;s LJN action figures&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair were psyching each other up. Grey had cotton in her ear to sell an eardrum equilibrium injury. Vanity Project showed up. Brad Baylor tried to flirt with Grey. Wren bragged about her team NQCC beating Vanity Project for the titles. Jackson Drake said he&#8217;ll beat Shiloh Hill. Grey said Hill is good with tools. Wren said Vanity Project look like tools. After Wren and Grey walked away, Myka Lockwood told Jackson Drake to lock in and prove them wrong&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Thea Hail and Jaida Parker made their entrance. Nattie and her two sidekicks made their entrance&#8230;<\/p><div id=\"prowr-1086078952\" class=\"prowr-content-5 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_3 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_3\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>2. Nattie Neidhart (w\/Nikkita Lyons, Karmen Petrovic) vs. Thea Hail (w\/Jaida Parker).<\/strong> Nattie and Thea traded slaps. Nattie put Thea in a side headlock takedown. Hail came back with a Thesz Press and punches. Hail hit all three Dungeon members with a Suicide Dive heading into break.[c]<\/p>\n<p>Back from break, Hail went for a Kimura. Nattie broke it by tackling Hail to the corner. Both women traded pin attempts. hail hit Nattie with a Blockbuster for a nearfall. A picture in picture showed Cruz waiting in the most dangerous place in WWE, the NXT Parking Lot, for Zilla Fatu. Nattie and Thea traded rapid pins. Hail took down Nattie with a headbutt.<\/p>\n<p>Hail hit Nattie with the World&#8217;s Smallest Slam. Nattie dodged the Trust fall and got a two count. Nattie broke up a Kimura attempt with a Spinebuster. Nattie put Thea in the Sharpshooter and dragged her to the center of the ring. Thea tapped out in front of Jaida.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nattie Neidhart defeated Thea Hail via submission in 8:28.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the match, Petrovic and Lyons held down Parker so she could watch Nattie to continue to put Hail in the Sharpshooter. Jaida checked on Hail after the heels left&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Bronco Nima showed up to wish Lucien Price luck in his upcoming Speed title match&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> A good match that boosted Nattie and made Thea look good in defeat. I wish they&#8217;ve booked Nattie to be stronger, but what can you do? Thea has lost more than win over the past few months, but she has picked up some wins and looked credible here instead of being fodder, which she&#8217;s been since the accidental North American title win. One character I think NXT does have to fix is Jaida Parker though. When she first showed up in NXT she was cool and authentic. Now she feels a bit generic and cookie cutter. We&#8217;ve seen Jaida steel the show in arenas, so I know she has it in her to turn it around. They just need to find a character position that clicks.<\/p>\n<p>Entrances for the Speed title match took place&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Lexis King (w\/Channing Lorenzo, Uriah Connors, Ariana Grace, Charlie Dempsey) vs. Lucien Price in a 5 minute time limit match for the WWE Speed Championship.<\/strong> Price tackled King to the mat. The rest of Birth Right dragged King away from the pin. Price chased King around the ring. Birth Right formed a wall for King. King even slipped while still running. King teased a hip attack, but continued to stall. King yelled &#8220;I will rule you&#8221; and then walked into an overhead chop to the chest by Price.<\/p>\n<p>King caught Price with a Superkick. Price caught a running King with a lariat while on his knee. King caught Price with a DDT for a two count. Price caught King&#8217;s roundhouse into a lariat. Price planted King with a Uranage with 50 seconds left on the clock. Stacks and Grace distracted the ref, which allowed the other two Birth Right members to trip Price. King hit Price with a Twisting Neckbreaker for the victory.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lexis King defeated Lucien Price via pinfall in 4:35 to retain the WWE Speed Championship.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Birth Right put the boots to Price after. Bronco Nima ran out and chased away the heels. Nima asked Price for a dap. Nima and Price dapped it up and hugged to show they were on the same page&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Grayson Waller was shown walking backstage&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> Eh, another speed match, made worse by the lame finishes that King matches tend to have due to having to use his entire faction to win. I feel it&#8217;s a bit too contrived to have so many talented wrestlers in the Birth Right faction constrained to the confines of the Speed time limit (can we give Ariana Grace a microphone please?). I also kinda hope the tease of an OTM breakup was a fakeout and that we move on with OTM being a badass team again. (What&#8217;s kinda weird is they&#8217;re not making any deal of this with Karmen Petrovic, who is also doing double duty on NXT and AAA in the exact same faction as Nima)<\/p>\n<p><strong>[Hour Two] <\/strong>Grayson Waller made his entrance. Waller said he&#8217;s been begging for weeks for someone to stop his takeover of NXT. He said instead of tiktok tough guys trying to do something, he has to deal with another Samoan trying to take the food off his table. Waller said he&#8217;s not afraid of Zilla&#8217;s family. Waller said he&#8217;s from Western Sydney and has been fighting Uce&#8217;s all his life. Waller said since none of the Uce&#8217;s can wrap it up, another Samoan showed up to take something from him.<\/p>\n<p>He said he&#8217;s actually happy that Zilla got the house arrest ankle monitor off and can roam free. Waller said Zilla picked the wrong night and picked the wrong guy at the wrong time. He said you can&#8217;t handle this version of Grayson Waller. Waller said he thinks he should be the number one contender. NXT Champion Tony D&#8217;Angelo interrupted Waller&#8217;s promo. Tony D said whoever is the contender, he keeps knocking everyone down.<\/p>\n<p>He said they can come from TNA, WWE, or the island of irrelevancy, he&#8217;ll knock everyone on their ass. Cruz Montana showed up at the top of the bleechers. Montana said he&#8217;s been waiting for Zilla. Cruz wondered if he spun the block too hard on Waller, because Waller was on the mat before Zilla interfered. Cruz proposed that he and Waller can finish their business from last week. NXT GM Robert Stone showed up and reminded everyone that Zilla wasn&#8217;t under WWE contract yet.<\/p>\n<p>Stone said to be fair, he&#8217;ll book Tony D&#8217;Angelo vs. Grayson Waller vs. Cruz Montana for the NXT Championship at Heat Wave. Stone said he&#8217;ll handle Zilla Fatu when he gets here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Lizzy Rain and Shiloh Hill were chatting backstage. Myles Borne cut in and told Hill that he needs to get some sort of reward if he can win his next match. Borne said he talked to Stone and if Hill can beat Jackson Drake, he&#8217;ll get the NXT North American Title shot. Hill was hyped and thanked Borne&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair made their entrance&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> One lowkey mesmerizing thing, check out that hip snap thing that Wren Sinclair does to the beat of Kendal Grey&#8217;s entrance theme. A thing of beauty! And it somehow gets better every time. (She does do it during her own singles entrance too, but somehow it &#8220;hits harder&#8221; when she does it to Kendal&#8217;s theme).<\/p>\n<p>Keanu Carver was on Robert Stone&#8217;s seat when Stone returned to his office. Carver didn&#8217;t like Stone\u00a0 giving Cruz and Waller an automatic match. Stone said Carver has to earn a shot. Carver said it&#8217;s fine and in the meantime &#8220;I made you a coffee bro. I know you be stressed&#8221;.\u00a0 Carver handed Stone the coffee and yelled at Stone &#8220;Drink the coffee Stone! NOW!&#8221;. Kam Hendrix showed up and said he should be in line for a shot. Carver yelled at Kam, saying he and Stone were having a bonding moment&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Kali Armstrong made her entrance in Los Angeles Lakers colors (that organization has been getting tossed around recently. That said, GO LAKERS!). Kelani Jordan was out last&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair vs. Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong.<\/strong> Kali tagged herself iin after Kelani ate a dropkick from Wren. Wren tripped up Kali and gave Kali a kick. Grey tagged in. Wren and Grey swarmed Kali with flying kicks. Kelani tagged in and dropkicked Grey in the injured ear. Both women traded rollup attempts. Wren tagged in. Wren and Grey dumped both opponents to ringside.<\/p>\n<p>Grey hit Kali with a sliding Huracanrana. Wren hit both opponents with a diving crossbody to ringside.[c]<\/p>\n<p>Kali got a two count off Wren after a Lionsault. Wren dumped Kelani to ringside to bring in Grey for the hot tag. Wren gave both women Belly to Belly suplexes while selling the eardrum injury. Grey took down the straps and then suplexed both opponents again. Grey rolled into an Ankle Lock on Kali. Kali sent Kendal&#8217;s ear into the bottom rope. Grey reversed a power slam to a rollup on Kali. Wren and Kelani tagged in.<\/p>\n<p>Wren gave Kelani chest chops. Kali pulled Kelani away to allow Kelani to hit Wren with a Slingshot slam. The referee got distracted by Grey, which meant the referee was late for the pin. Wren kicked out. Kelani yelled at the ref. Kali tagged in. Wren slammed Kali to the mat and put her in the Final Wrench. Kelani broke up the submission. Kelani used a drop toehold to send Grey&#8217;s ear into the steel steps. The distraction allowed Kali to trip up Wren and hit her with the Kali Connection (High Speed Basement Shoulder Tackle) for the win.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kali Armstrong and Kelani Jordan defeated Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey via pinfall in 10:33.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> Solid storyline development. The finish was telegraphed a bit with Grey sporting the ear bandage. That said, they got the goal over of making Grey vulnerable with the ear injury, but they also continued Kelani&#8217;s conspiracy gimmick by having her feel like the referee was screwing her over again on the pinfall. Good win for Kali, but I&#8217;d hope they eventually pull her away from the title picture and have her start developing herself from scratch. Mostly because she feels too pushed too soon in the current way they are pushing her.<\/p>\n<p>Vic and Booker sent the show to a split screen promo exchange between Dion Lennox and Saquon Shugars. Shugars talked about dominating Dion and Dion only gets his advantage due to the numbers game. Dion said he&#8217;s not worried about Saquon being a lone ranger. Shugars challenged Dion to a steel cage match. Dion protested a bit, but proposed having weapons in the match.<\/p>\n<p>Saquon said Dion may be a good football player, but he can&#8217;t touch him. Saquon said he&#8217;s a diamond made by carrying Dion&#8217;s dead weight. Dion said he&#8217;s going to make sure the sun sets on Saquon Shugars next week. Vic noted that the match will be a &#8220;Weaponized Cage Match&#8221; (Lethal Lockdown ish?)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Vic hyped upcoming segments&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p>Vic hyped WWE&#8217;s live events in Hawaii&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Entrances for the next match took place&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Shiloh Hill vs. Jackson Drake (w\/Myka Lockwood, Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes).<\/strong> Drake crumpled after taking an overhead chop. Hill dominated early on with power moves. Baylor gave Hill a cheap shot which allowed Drake to dump Hill to ringside. Baylor and Smokes put the boots to Hill when Drake distracted the referee. Drake gave Hill a clothesline for a two count.[c]<\/p>\n<p>Back from break, Drake hit Hill with a Knee Plus for a nearfall. Drake went for a Lethal Injection, but he rolled over Hill and Hill turned Drake inside out with a Pendulum lariat. Hill hit Drake with his Inverted standing 450 for a nearfall. Hill hit Drake with a Pop Up punch. Lockwood got on the apron for a distraction. Smokes tried to punch Hill, but the referee actually grabbed Ricky&#8217;s arm.<\/p>\n<p>Hill hit Vanity Project with a flip dive while they were protesting the ejection. Back in the ring, Hill hit Drake with a Flying Shoulder Tackle. Drake punched Hill on the top rope. Hill knocked Drake off the top rope, but he fell on the referee. REF BUMP! Naraku appeared from under the ring and sent him to the mat with Poison Mist. Drake hit Hill with a 450 for the victory.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jackson Drake defeated Shiloh Hill via pinfall in 11:08.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> Vanity Project might be the only faction in all of pro wrestling where I don&#8217;t eyeroll at every one of their distraction or ref bump finishes. In fact, it really works for them. I actually liked their interference backfiring on them leading to the ejection, because it put doubt on Drake winning. Shiloh Hill name dropped Naraku a few weeks ago when talking about random poison mist facts, but I didn&#8217;t expect it to lead to a feud between the two. That one should be fun. As long as they can keep the tooth stuff away, this should be a fun feud. Also given Naraku&#8217;s long history, he has a long history of making young wrestlers look like a million bucks, so this is nothing but a plus for Hill.<\/p>\n<p>In Robert Stone&#8217;s office, Stone reminded Zaria about the unification match she is going to have against Wren Sinclair. Zaria said she likes it because of the lack of time limit. Kali Armstrong showed up to talk smack. Stone booked Zaria and Kali into a match next week where if Kali wins the title unification match will be a triple threat&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Zilla Fatu was shown getting out of an SUV in the parking lot&#8230;[c]<\/p>\n<p>An ad aired for the AAA and NXT Heatwave double header&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The following matches were advertised for next week: Rey Fenix vs. EK Prosper for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship, Dion Lennox vs. Saquon Shugars in a Weaponized Cage match, and Zaria vs. Kali Armstrong in a non-title match&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>GM Robert Stone was in the ring, where he announced Zilla Fatu as NXT&#8217;s next star. Zilla Fatu made his entrance. Zilla dapped it up with his trainer Booker T. Zilla also slapped hands with Vic. NXT Champion Tony D&#8217;Angelo appeared at the crow&#8217;s nest. Zilla said it&#8217;s a moment for him to be signing with the largest wrestling company in the world WWE, and to start in NXT. The crowd gave Zilla &#8220;Umaga&#8221; chants.<\/p>\n<p>Zilla said he never thought he would be here, but he&#8217;s here now tho. He said he&#8217;s here to show he&#8217;s not another nepobaby (uhm? The Executive Producer credits aired to close the show&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John&#8217;s Thoughts:<\/strong><\/span> Short and sweet, and I like them framing Zilla Fatu as a big deal. We didn&#8217;t get to hear much from him other than simple hype, but that&#8217;s all they needed to do at this point. There is going to be an aura of mystery around him heading into his debut because his first match is going to be a title match. That should be fun. A few weeks ago, I thought it was cut and dry going to be Tony D vs. Cruz Montana at Heatwave with it being a good possibility that Cruz will be the new face of NXT as soon as Heatwave.<\/p>\n<p>NXT has done a solid job subverting expectations by reinvigorating their main event scene with the additions of Zilla Fatu and Grayson Waller to the main event picture. They allowed Waller to cut that pipe bomb style promo, and it elevated both Waller&#8217;s and NXT&#8217;s social media presence at the same time. On top of that, Zilla being presented as a free agent boosts NXT as well. I have no clue where they are going at Heatwave now and that&#8217;s a good thing. Solid episode of NXT this week. Lots of good action, spearheaded by the AAA Cruiserweight qualifyer.
