There are chandeliers, but they might be high enough that they won&#8217;t affect the action. This room is long and narrow, so nearly everyone was on two opposite sides. The crowd was maybe 150, but it was PACKED.\u00a0The injured Jaden Newman provided commentary. A woman named Tiffany joined for the women&#8217;s match.<\/p>\n<p><b>1. Justin McKenzie vs Bobby Flaco.<\/b> I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve seen Justin before; he&#8217;s a Black man of average size. (He was replacing\u00a0<u>Kody Manhorn<\/u>. He does not have a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cagematch.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/cagematch.netandsource=gmailandust=1786845075345000andusg=AOvVaw0AhiBDf4NNF-uzn2Htx3Oi\">cagematch.net<\/a>\u00a0bio yet.) Basic action early on, and the crowd was behind the arm-pumping dork Flaco. He hit a double stomp. Flaco hit a top-rope double stomp for the pin. Basic, but the crowd enjoyed it.<\/p>\n<p><i>Bobby Flaco defeated Justin McKenzie at 3:28.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>2. JT Paradox vs. Jamesen Shook.\u00a0<\/b>I&#8217;ve seen Paradox a few times now; he&#8217;s a thick, young\u00a0kid\u00a0who looks like he played high school football last year. He\u00a0had some\u00a0dark makeup under his eyes today to add to that look. Shook (think a young Sami Zayn) is a beloved babyface here. The commentators said Paradox was replacing\u00a0<u>Adam Priest<\/u>, who had travel issues. They locked up, and the bigger Paradox easily picked Jamesen up and slammed him to the mat. Shook dove through the ropes on him at 1:30 and hit some chops.<\/p>\n<p>As Shook tried to get into the ring, Paradox pushed Jameson off the apron, and Shook crashed into the nearby brick wall at 3:30! Paradox took control as they brawled around this tiny room. Paradox hit a bodyslam on a thin carpet on the floor at 5:00. In the ring, Paradox missed a moonsault but landed on his feet. Shook suplexed Paradox into the corner and got a nearfall. Paradox hit a fisherman&#8217;s suplex for a nearfall. They traded rollups. Shook hit a hard clothesline and a Death Valley Driver for the pin. Good action; Paradox has the size to be a player here.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jamesen Shook defeated JT Paradox at 7:33.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>3. Corinne Joy vs. Joseline Navarro.<\/b> Again, teenage star Joy just signed with MLW and had vignettes over the past two weeks, announcing her arrival. The commentators talked about Corinne&#8217;s quick fame on the indy scene. (She&#8217;s literally been wrestling about 16 months!) They locked up, and Navarro easily shoved the smaller Joy into the ropes. Corinne hit a huracanrana and a handspring-back-elbow, then a cartwheel-into-a-spear! Corinne hit a shotgun dropkick for a nearfall at 1:30. Navarro nailed a German Suplex, then her own basement dropkick to the side of the head for a nearfall.<\/p>\n<p>Joseline hit a guillotine leg drop for a nearfall at 3:00. Corinne got a rollup and a double stomp to the stomach at 4:30, then a top-rope frog splash for a nearfall. Joseline blocked a Sliced Bread and turned it into a powerbomb for a nearfall. Joseline hit a spin kick to the head, then a modified Widow&#8217;s Peak for a believable nearfall at 6:00. Corinne hit a running knee, then the Joy Ride (stunner) for the pin. Corinne put her feet on the ropes during the two-count, and the commentators were dismayed that she cheated at the end of the match.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-1353925601\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><i>Corinne Joy defeated Joseline Navarro at 6:34.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>4. Isaiah Broner vs. &#8220;The Wall&#8221; Tyler Stevens.<\/b> These two had quite a war in the Scenic City Invitational finals last month in Tennessee. (Broner won the tournament.) Stevens is really earning a Big Cass comparison lately, or perhaps resembling TNA&#8217;s &#8220;Agent Zero&#8221; Bill Collier. They glared at each other before eventually locking up, and Broner shoved Tyler&#8217;s head. They began trading forearm strikes at 2:30. Broner nailed a series of forearm strikes in the corner.\u00a0Broner hit a German Suplex,\u00a0so Wall hit\u00a0one at 4:30. They brawled on the floor. The bell suddenly rang! The ref had counted them both out. The crowd booed that finish. We want to see this war settled!<\/p>\n<p><i>Isaiah Broner vs. &#8220;The Wall&#8221; Tyler Stevens went to a double count-out at 5:52.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>5.\u00a0&#8220;Top Team&#8221; Terry Yaki and Jay Lucas vs. &#8220;The Wonderboyz&#8221; Aaron Dallas and Ethan Dallas for the Action Tag Team Titles.<\/b> Again, the Wonderboyz are hillbillies with reddish mullets. Aaron is older, thicker, with a mustache, while Ethan is quite young and scrawny.\u00a0&#8220;Top Team&#8221; is one of my favorite indy teams, and they just competed at the last ROH taping. Ethan and Jay opened with some basic standing switches. Ethan is soooo thin. Ethan hit a dropkick on Lucas. The brothers hit a stereo dropkick on Yaki. Jay hit a superkick on Aaron to send him to the floor. The champs began working over Ethan.<\/p>\n<p>The champs hit a team back suplex on Ethan for a nearfall at 3:00. Yaki slammed Ethan to the mat and applied a headlock. Aaron finally got a hot tag and hit a top-rope double crossbody block at 4:30. He hit European Uppercuts in opposite corners on each opponent.\u00a0Yaki hit a flip dive to the floor at 6:30. In the ring, Top Team hit a team flipping powerbomb move on Ethan for the pin. That wrapped up suddenly, but the right team won.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;Top Team&#8221; Terry Yaki and Jay Lucas defeated &#8220;The Wonderboyz&#8221; Aaron Dallas and Ethan Dallas for the Action Tag Team Titles at 7:23.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Intermission at 7:25 p.m. CST. I watched the Smackdown opening segment. The opening match ended just in time for this show to return at 7:44CT\/8:44ET.<\/p>\n<p><b>6. Tim Bosby vs. a mystery opponent.<\/b> The Action Wrestling Twitter\/X page teased the mystery opponent all week. I consider Bosby a top-15 indy prospect who could easily be signed in the next two years. The crowd taunted Bosby with a &#8220;You tapped out!&#8221; chant (as Bosby lost his title to Darian Bengston at the end of last year). The opponent is\u00a0<b>Kasey Owens.<\/b> Meh. (He&#8217;s a perfect mix of Joey Janela and Jimmy Lloyd;\u00a0<i>he&#8217;s solid, but he&#8217;s a regular here. With a &#8216;mystery opponent&#8217; tease, I expected someone outside the area, and a bigger name.<\/i>)<\/p>\n<p>They traded chops, and Owens twisted the left leg. Bosby hit a belly-to-belly suplex at 2:00, but he sold pain in his knee. Bosby choked him in the ropes.\u00a0<i>This crowd has died &#8212; yeah, the mystery tease didn&#8217;t deliver.<\/i>\u00a0Bosby tied him in a Boston Crab in the ropes at 4:00, and he let go before the five-count. Bosby hit a German Suplex for a nearfall, and they were both down. Tim tied him in a headlock on the mat. Owens tied up the left leg on the mat, and the crowd taunted Bosby to &#8220;Tap!&#8221; Bosby reached the ropes at 7:00.<\/p>\n<p>Bosby set up for the release F5, but Owens held on and got a rollup for a nearfall. The ref got bumped in the corner! Bosby wrapped his wrist tape around Kasey&#8217;s throat, applied a sleeper, and they fell to the mat. The ref didn&#8217;t see the tape! He checked Kasey, determined he was out, and called for the bell. In one word&#8230; underwhelming. I have more thoughts below.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-2000349789\" class=\"prowr-content-5 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_3 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_3\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><i>Timothy Bosby defeated Kasey Owens at 8:45.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>7. &#8220;The Infantry&#8221; Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean vs. Herculon Rage and Grayson Pierce in a best-of-three-falls match.<\/b> Again, the bald, thick Rage is similar to 1 Called Manders, while Pierce has earned comparisons to a young HBK, Brian Kendrick, or Johnny Morrison. They began brawling on the floor; I started the stopwatch at first contact, but we haven&#8217;t had a bell. A commentator just confirmed that. Carlie hit some chops on Pierce, and he let some fans hit some chops. Those two got in the ring, and<i>\u00a0we got a bell at 00:57.<\/i> Dean hit a bodyslam on Rage, but Herculon popped to his feet and hit a bodyslam on Shawn!<\/p>\n<p>Rage choked Dean in the ropes. From the apron, Pierce kicked Dean on the side of the head. Bravo tagged in and hit a top-rope knee drop on Pierce for a nearfall at 4:00. Bravo hit a DDT. Dean and Rage brawled on the floor some more, and the ref was watching them. Meanwhile,\u00a0<i><b>Pierce hit a low-blow uppercut on Bravo, hit a split-legged moonsault, and got a tainted pin at 4:52<\/b><\/i>! The match continued without a break, as the heels kept Bravo in their corner. (<i>Whatever happened to 30-second rest periods?<\/i>)<\/p>\n<p>Bravo and Rage fought on the floor on the narrow side of the ring.\u00a0In the ring, Pierce hit a moonsault, and Rage hit a frog splash for a nearfall at 7:00. Bravo put Pierce in a Boston Crab, but Rage made the save. Dean got a hot tag at 9:00 and hit a back-body drop on Pierce.\u00a0<i><b>Dean hit a hard back elbow on Rage and pinned him at 9:58!<\/b><\/i>\u00a0We are tied at 1-1! Bravo hit a Ganga&#8217;s Paradise (Sister Abigail) for a nearfall.<\/p>\n<p>Rage hit a Black Hole Slam on Dean for a nearfall at 12:00. Dean hit a superkick on Rage, then a plancha to the floor on him. Meanwhile, Bravo and Pierce brawled on the top rope, and Grayson shoved him to the mat. Pierce hit a 450 Splash. He got a backslide for a nearfall, but Bravo hit a powerbomb and an axe kick to the back of the neck for the pin. Good action.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;The Infantry&#8221; Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean (2) defeated Herculon Rage and Grayson Pierce (1) in a best-of-three-falls match at 14:37\/official time of 13:40.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>8. Darian Bengston vs. Hayden Seal for the Action Wrestling Title.<\/b> I&#8217;ve seen Seal a few times lately, and he&#8217;s really tall &#8212; maybe 6&#8217;4&#8243;? They shook hands before locking up. The commentators talked about Seal doing well at the SCI tournament. Mat specialist Bengston tied up the left arm and kept Hayden grounded. Hayden hit some jab punches and an Irish Whip at 2:30. Bengston tied him in a Cattle Mutilation, but Seal got his feet on the ropes.<\/p>\n<p>Seal grounded him in a headlock. He hit a powerslam for a nearfall at 6:30. Darian hit a hard clothesline for a nearfall. Hayden hit a Claymore Kick for a nearfall at 8:00. Seal hit some chops. Bengston re-applied the Makabe Lock (Cattle Mutilation), and this time Seal tapped out. Decent match. Seal is a promising up-and-comer, but the winner was never in doubt.<\/p>\n<p><i>Darian Bengston defeated Hayden Seal to retain the Action Wrestling Title at 9:13.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>* Seal refused a post-match handshake; he turned and left. Suddenly,\u00a0<b>Isaiah Broner<\/b>\u00a0jumped in the ring and hit a nasty headbutt on Bengston! He held up his NapTown Title as well as the Action Title.\u00a0<b>Tim Bosby<\/b>\u00a0also came to the ring. It looked like he was going to hit Broner, but he instead joined Broner in stomping on Bengston!\u00a0<b>Tyler Stevens<\/b>\u00a0ran into the ring to make the save. All four\u00a0brawled. A really good show-closing angle.<\/p>\n<p><b>Final Thoughts:<\/b>\u00a0Don&#8217;t tease a mystery opponent if you can&#8217;t deliver! I didn&#8217;t have &#8216;high expectations&#8217; for Bosby&#8217;s mystery opponent, but the bar was set pretty high when you tease a mystery man. (<i>This would be like WWE Smackdown teasing a mystery opponent all week for Cody Rhodes&#8230; and delivering Tama Tonga.<\/i>) Owens is fine, but he&#8217;s here all the time. They should have just announced this match without the mystery tease. The match itself was perfectly fine, but the reveal was a giant let-down, and they simply didn&#8217;t recover from that.<\/p>\n<p>A fine, short show &#8212; it was a mere 2 hours, 10 minutes, and that includes the 19-minute intermission. The top wrestlers in this promotion (Shook, Bengston, Top Team, Bosby) all fought newer opponents, rather than each other. That&#8217;s fine &#8212; they all got to work with newer, younger guys. Paradox, Rage, and Pierce have all proven quickly to be a good core of young rising names.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll never be a fan of the arm-pumping dork (my sixth-grader could probably beat him up!), but at least his match was kept short. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a clean finish in that Stevens-Broner match, but clearly more chapters in that feud are coming.<\/p>\n<p>I watched this live; it should be available on IWTV
