The same could be said about most matches on this show, but I still have some hope that Fletcher will slow down and make the big moves matter rather than popping right up and hitting a big move of his own. Fletcher is one of the best young wrestlers in the world. Making that adjustment would make him even better and might even prolong his career. Again, though, this was a hot match with a clean and decisive finish. It was good to see Don Callis at ringside rather than sitting in on commentary. Callis is good at the broadcast table, but I&#8217;d prefer to see him working ringside during his wrestlers&#8217; key matches and save the commentary for when they are heavy favorites.<\/p>\n<p><b>Andrade El Idolo vs. Komander vs. Tommaso Ciampa in a Triple Threat for the first entry in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In London:<\/b> Andrade&#8217;s win was predictable, which is fine in this case because it was the right move. The post-match angle with MJF attacking Andrade seemed to set the table for MJF winning next week&#8217;s match for the second entry spot in the Casino Gauntlet. I get the idea of wanting to advertise two marquee names starting the match, but having these guys work a Casino Gauntlet rather than a meaningful singles match on the company&#8217;s biggest show of the year is disappointing. MJF&#8217;s promo was strong, and it provided a nice change of pace from the rest of the match-heavy show. We&#8217;ll see where it goes, but the idea of MJF claiming he&#8217;s still the AEW World Champion and carrying around his personal title belt doesn&#8217;t do much for me.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mistico, Darby Allin, and Chris Jericho vs. Kazuchika Okada, Kevin Knight, and Hechicero:<\/b> The live crowd singing along during Mistico&#8217;s entrance was a moment. I&#8217;m over AEW fans singing &#8220;Judas,&#8221; but this was an exception, as it was cool to see the Mexican fans singing along. It appeared Jericho even lightened his hair for his throwback Coraz\u00f3n de Le\u00f3n look. This isn&#8217;t exactly breaking news, but Darby is insane. I&#8217;m still cringing over seeing him get tossed off the entrance ramp and being crotched on the barricade below. Aside from that spot, this match was a crowd-pleaser right to the end, which saw Mistico and Jericho apply their sleeper holds while Allin hit Knight with a Coffin Drop before pinning him. The Knight vs. Allin feud is clearly not over. Will it continue with a TNT Title match at All In London?<\/p>\n<p><b>Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson vs. Jon Moxley, Pac, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia:<\/b> A solid opening match. The live crowd was hot for Copeland&#8217;s first match at Arena Mexico, and the entire babyface team was over. Copeland colliding with Matt led to Moxley rolling up Copeland and holding the tights while pinning him. It was refreshing to see cooler heads prevail rather than go right to the teams melting down over a spot that was designed to be accidental. I hope things eventually boil over before the AEW Tag Team Title match at All In London, but it didn&#8217;t need to happen weeks before the pay-per-view.<\/p>\n<p><b>Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis in a Mexico City Street Fight with no one allowed at ringside:<\/b> A soft Hit for an entertaining show-closing brawl despite the lack of mystery regarding the outcome. AEW is playing with fire by letting Ospreay take so many big bumps this close to him headlining their biggest show of the year. It would be more productive for Ospreay to plow through his opponents this month while showcasing his offense. I don&#8217;t mind a hardcore style if the feud has built to the point where it feels like it&#8217;s earned. The violence in this match felt a bit over the top for this feud. Finally, the company really should have taken a moment to explain what would have happened had someone shown up at ringside, given that there are no disqualifications in street fights.<\/p>\n<p><b>AEW Women\u2019s Champion Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, and Alex Windsor vs. Mercedes Mon\u00e9 and AEW Tag Team Champions Megan Bayne and Lena Kross:<\/b> A soft Hit. I was surprised to see Willow pin Mon\u00e9. There are still a few weeks of build to All In left, but in the moment, Willow&#8217;s win seems to suggest that the plan is for Mon\u00e9 to beat her at the pay-per-view. We&#8217;ll see how it plays out, but if I were in Tony Khan&#8217;s position, I&#8217;d keep an open mind to having Willow go over after that great crowd reaction she received last week during her championship win celebration. Here&#8217;s hoping for more segments focused directly on Bayne and Kross with their All In challengers Hayter and Windsor, rather than just having them in trios matches.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico Misses<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>CMLL Women\u2019s Champion Persephone vs. Kris Statlander in a non-title match:<\/b> This is one match that could have been cut from the lineup. The show was advertised as running 2.5 hours, and it ended up running 23 minutes over. Why? The finish that stemmed from Hikaru Shida attacking Statlander while the referee was distracted was flat. I also could have done without Thunder Rosa sitting in the crowd with the Mexican National Women&#8217;s Championship. The last thing AEW needed was to introduce another title belt.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-1155431969\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><b>&#8220;The Demand&#8221; Ricochet, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun vs. Hangman Page, Bandido, and Brody King for the AEW Trios Titles:<\/b> A minor Miss. It was an entertaining match, and the babyfaces were over big with the crowd, but the trios titles are a joke. I mentioned when AEW introduced these titles that I was skeptical they would feel important when I don&#8217;t think the masses have cared about any six-man tag team titles since the days of the Von Erichs vs. The Freebirds in World Class. The point still stands. In this case, it&#8217;s hard to care about the title change when The Demand just won the belts a week earlier on Dynamite. AEW took the same approach when Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, and Mark Davis held the belts for eleven days, and again when The Dogs won the titles, only to lose them four days later. It seemed like the company wanted to make these titles matter initially, but they&#8217;ve become the belts that change hands when the booker impulsively wants to book a title change out of the blue.<\/p>\n<p><b>Matches, matches, and more matches:<\/b> Yeah, that&#8217;s AEW&#8217;s thing. This is more of a suggestion than a Miss. With the show being held at Arena Mexico, it&#8217;s a shame they didn&#8217;t find time to showcase the venue. Show fans the party scene outside the venue where all the lucha masks are sold. There were clearly plenty of fans who spoke English, so why not record some interviews and use a few of the best ones, and really showcase the company&#8217;s international appeal. There are so many little things the company could do that would make this apparently annual show feel special beyond just telling us how great the venue is. Fans who aren&#8217;t familiar with the venue know that the stage is unique and the fans are hot.
