Excalibur opened the show, and was joined on commentary by Nigel McGuinness and Walker Stewart&#8230; Ring announcers Arkady Aura and New Japan Pro Wrestling&#8217;s Takuro Shibata delivered the introductions for the opening match as the wrestlers made their entrances&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u201cEl Sky Team\u201d Mistico and Mascara Dorada vs. \u201cThe Young Bucks\u201d Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson vs. Shingo Takagi and Titan in a three-way tag team match.<\/strong> The Spanish Broadcast team was also shown at ringside. Yes, of course, Rick Knox was the referee. Mistico and Titan shook hands to start the match, but Titan dropkicked Mistico and put the boots to him, which drew boos.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Dorado performed a shooting star press off the middle rope onto everyone else on the floor. Takagi shrugged off double superkicks twice and then clotheslined his opponents. Takagi played to the cheering fans, but then turned into a quadruple superkick.<\/p>\n<p>Mistico hit a top rope Spanish Fly on Takagi a short time later. There was a series of top rope moves by various wrestlers that left everyone down for a moment. Mistico had Takagi down in La Mistica, but the other teams broke up the submission attempt.<\/p>\n<p>Titan hit a top rope double stomp on Mistico and went for the pin, but one of the Bucks broke it up. A short time later, the Bucks hit Titan with a Meltzer Driver and then pinned him&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Young Bucks&#8221; Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson defeated &#8220;El Sky Team\u201d Mistico and Mascara Dorada, and Shingo Takagi and Titan in 17:50 in a three-way tag match.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> A fast-paced, crowd-pleasing, big spot opener. Mistico was the most over guy in the match, but the fans cheered for everyone and all the wild spots. Under different circumstances, I&#8217;d question whether they did too many big spots in the opening match, but I think this show appeals to a lot of fans who enjoy the balls-to-the-wall approach from start to finish.<\/p><div id=\"prowr-3726168417\" class=\"prowr-content-4 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_2 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_2\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_2\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>A brief video package aired before the wrestlers made their entrances for the next match&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.<\/strong> Omega performed a huracanrana, and then Sabre rolled to the floor several minutes in. Omega dove over the ropes onto Sabre on the floor. Sabre did joint manipulation on Omega&#8217;s fingers, and they fought on the floor. Excalibur said the referee was being liberal with the ten count.<\/p>\n<p>Omega put the plastic piece from the Spanish broadcast table on top &#8211; Sabre. Omega rolled back inside the ring to break a trivial referee count and then double stomped Sabre. Omega got Sabre on the Spanish desk, but he was not able to suplex him onto the English table. Sabre caught Omega in a submission hold and flipped off the fans. Both wrestlers fell off the table. Sabre targeted Omega&#8217;s right arm once they were back inside the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Omega battled back and performed a flip over the top rope onto Sabre on the floor. Back in the ring, Omega missile dropkicked Sabre from behind and covered him for a two count. Moments later, the wrestlers traded blows in the middle of the ring. Omega executed a snap dragon suplex. Sabre rallied and kicked Omega, who was down on his knees. Omega called for more, and Sabre obliged with another kick. Omega wanted another, but this time he blocked it. Sabre took him down and wrenched on Omega&#8217;s right arm. Omega quickly reached the ropes to break the hold.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Sabre had Omega in a sleeper hold while they were on the ropes, facing the crowd. Omega fell backward to the mat and broke the hold. Omega threw kicks at Sabre, who was on his knees. Sabre blocked the third kick and wrenched on Omega&#8217;s angle. Both wrestlers traded knee strikes. Omega hit one to Sabre&#8217;s back and then hit a Poison Rana.<\/p>\n<p>Sabre avoided a move and rolled Omega into a pin while bridging for a near fall. Omega hit a piledriver and followed with a knee strike. Omega set up for the One Winged Angel, but Sabre slipped away and then hooked him in a pin for a near fall. Sabre followed up with a Zack Driver for another near fall. The wrestlers traded slaps in the middle of the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Omega hit a snap dragon suplex and hit a knee strike. Omega went for his finisher, but Sabre transitioned into a triangle. Omega powered him up with one arm and slammed him to the mat to break the hold. Omega drilled Sabre with a knee strike. Omega hoisted up Sabre for his finisher. Sabre threw punches and tried to escape, but Omega hit the One Winged Angel and then pinned Sabre clean. McGuinness called the match a masterpiece&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Kenny Omega defeated Zack Sabre Jr. in 26:30.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> A terrific match that lived up to my lofty expectations. I don&#8217;t always enjoy these shows as much as some fans because I prefer a good storyline build and stakes for matches, whereas many Forbidden Door has had a lot of international dream matches without a lot of build. Omega vs. Sabre is different because they have a rivalry. So while the build was nothing special, it&#8217;s been established that their characters desperately want to win, which is enough for me. Even if it wasn&#8217;t, I still enjoy the way their styles mesh.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Continental Championship match&#8230; Bandido made his entrance via the stage. Jon Moxley made his entrance through the crowd. Renee Paquette checked in with a few comments from ringside&#8230;<\/p><div id=\"prowr-1323698294\" class=\"prowr-content-5 prowr-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: prowrestling_incontent_3 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"prowrestling_incontent_3\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\", slotId: \"prowrestling_incontent_3\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>3. Jon Moxley vs. Bandido for the AEW Continental Championship.<\/strong> Moxley had Bandido down in a wristlock. Bandido kipped up and broke the hold, then aimed a finger gun at Moxley. Bandido got Moxley in a wristlock. Moxley rolled out of it. Moxley stuck a finger gun in Bandido&#8217;s face and then flipped him off.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley kicked Bandido off the apron to the floor and then hit him with a suicide dive. Moxley threw Bandido back inside the ring. Bandido quickly ran the ropes and dove over the top rope onto Moxley on the floor. Bandido motioned for the title belt and then did another finger gun at Moxley, who was down on the floor. Back in the ring, Bandido went for a corner splash, but Moxley kicked him with both legs in midair.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley dumped Bandido to the floor and followed. Moxley pulled the ring steps away from the post and then brought Bandido onto them. Moxley performed a piledriver on the steps. Moxley returned to the ring while the referee checked on Bandido, who came up bleeding from the forehead. Moxley went back to the floor and bit his forehead. Moxley teased that he was going to tear Bandido&#8217;s mask, which drew some boos.<\/p>\n<p>Back in the ring, Moxley followed through by grabbing one of the eye holes and tearing the mask. Moxley threw forearms and elbows while Bandido was on the mat. Bandido pulled himself up in a corner of the ring. Moxley stood on the ropes over him and threw punches at his head. The fans counted to five before Moxley appeared to scold them. Bandido performed a running powerbomb. A &#8220;Bandido&#8221; chant broke out.<\/p>\n<p>Moxley bit Bandido&#8217;s forehead again. Bandido came right back with a corkscrew dive from the ropes. Bandido worked over Moxley and then mounted him in the corner and threw punches while the fans counted to ten. Moxley shoved Bandido off the ropes, only to be dropkicked by him. Bandido hit a running knee strike and then got a two count. Moxley threw a knee to Bandido&#8217;s gut, but Bandido pressed him over his head, held him up with one arm, and then slammed him to the mat.<\/p>\n<p>Bandido went up top and did a shimmy before going for a frog splash, but Moxley put his knees up. Both wrestlers traded kicks to the head. Bandido superkicked and then suplexed Moxley. Bandido ran the ropes for his finisher, but Moxley cut him off with a lariat. Moxley hit the Death Rider and covered Bandido, who kicked out at the last moment. Moxley flashed a look of surprise. Moxley did a finger gun and then a throat slash gesture. Moxley brought Bandido to a corner of the ring and pulled him onto the ropes. Bandido fought back and then bit Moxley&#8217;s forehead. Bandido performed the Moonsault &#8216;n Battery off the top rope for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>Bandido went for his 21 Plex finisher, but he went over Moxley to the apron. Moxley applied the bulldog choke. Bandido stood up with Moxley on his back. Bandido walked backwards, made the sign of the cross, and then jumped in the air and fell back, but Moxley maintained the hold and hooked him in a full body scissors. The referee checked on Bandido before calling for the bell.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jon Moxley beat Bandido in 18:10 to retain the AEW Continental Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Afterward, a trainer stood on the floor and checked on Bandido. Moxley grabbed Bandido&#8217;s hand and pulled him up to his knees. Moxley offered a handshake. Bandido shook his hand and then spoke to him briefly before exiting the ring and leaving through the crowd&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> A hell of a match. They went back and forth with some believable near falls along the way. It&#8217;s a tall task to follow an Omega vs. Sabre match, but these two actually made it look easy. One big tell for me regarding the outcome is that they didn&#8217;t make this a title vs. title match. I assumed Moxley was winning when he showed no interest in Bandido&#8217;s ROH Championship. Even so, I thought this was great.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship match&#8230; Pac made his entrance through the crowd. Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia shook hands with him and fired him up before he headed to the ring. Shota Unimo made his entrance via the stage&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Shota Umino vs. Pac for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title.<\/strong> Excalibur mentioned that the title was relatively new. Stewart said to think of it as the spiritual successor to the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Pac kicked Umino when the bell rang and then threw more kicks in the corner. Pac took the fight to the floor and ran Umino into the barricade a few times. Back in the ring, Pac performed a missile dropkick and covered Unimo for an early two count.<\/p>\n<p>Umino battled back and had Pac draped over the middle rope with his head facing the crowd. Umino jumped over the top rope and spiked Pac&#8217;s head on the apron while falling to the floor. Umino slapped hands with fans at ringside. Excalibur did a nice job of explaining that it was similar to a DDT, but more punishing due to the weight and force created by the jump. Umino performed a running dropkick that sent Pac into the barricade. Umino had Pac draped over the barricade, and then DDT&#8217;d him on the floor. Back in the ring, Umino powerbombed Pac and covered him for two.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, Pac rallied and hit what Excalibur labeled as a springboard swan diving moonsault onto Umino, who was on the floor. Back in the ring, both men stood on the top rope, and then Pac executed a top rope belly-to-belly suplex, which led to a near fall. Pac remained on the offensive. Umino started no-selling some moves. Pac picked up Umino and tossed him over the top rope through a table on the floor. Damn.<\/p>\n<p>Pac got Umino back inside the ring and hit him with a 450 Splash for a near fall. Pac applied the Brutalizer. Umino got his foot on the bottom rope to break it. Umino came back with a big elbow strike and a headbutt, then drilled Pac with a Strike Knee for a near fall. Umnio turned Pac inside out with a lariat and covered him for a near fall. Umino hit a Northern Lights Bomb and got the three count.<\/p>\n<p><em>Shota Umino defeated Pac in 18:15 to retain the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Afterward, Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir came to ringside and spoke with Pac, who was down in a corner of the ring. Umino celebrated his win. Moxley entered the ring while Umino was on his knees. Umino stood up and backed into Moxley, while Excalibur noted that it was the first time mentor Moxley had met up with his former protoge in several years.<\/p>\n<p>NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi&#8217;s entrance theme played, and he headed to the ring. Moxley left the ring and hopped the barricade. Tanahashi put the title belt around Umino&#8217;s waist and then raised his arm&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Another strong match. It&#8217;s cool to see how much Umino has improved since I was keeping closer tabs on NJPW. But Tanahashi has clearly been replaced by a body double or something. I still can&#8217;t get over his shorter hairstyle.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Women&#8217;s Championship match&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Starlight Kid made her entrance. Stardom President Taro Okada was shown in the front row. A couple of female fire dancers performed on the stage, and then Thekla made her entrance between them. Renee Paquette spoke briefly at ringside&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Thekla vs. Starlight Kid for the AEW Women\u2019s Championship.<\/strong> Tony Schiavone joined the broadcast team, making it a four-man team. Excalibur noted that Stardom President Taro Okada is not related to Kazuchika Okada. Rick Knox was the referee, meaning there&#8217;s a 50\/50 chance the masked Starlight Kid is actually one of the Young Bucks.<\/p>\n<p>Thekla did her spider pose in the ropes and threw a kick at Kid, who then kicked Thekla to the floor. Kid set up for an Asai moonsault, but Thekla pulled her to the floor. Thekla grabbed Okada and wound up to punch him, but Kid grabbed her arm and then slapped her. Thekla kicked Kid&#8217;s knee and tossed her back inside the ring. Thekla put a knee on Kid and posed while getting a two count. There was an Okada Cam (okay, they just had a camera right behind him as he applauded).<\/p>\n<p>Thekla hooked her legs around Kid&#8217;s head and then hung upside down over the ropes. Knox actually counted, so she had to break the hold. Thekla went up top, but Kid ran up the ropes and pulled her down with an arm drag. Kid went up top and was caught by Thekla, who sat down and performed a Spider Suplex. Thekla looked to the crowd and was applauded. Kid dropkicked Thekla off the ropes. Both wrestlers ended up on the apron. Kid drilled Thekla with a knee strike. Kid slammed her on the apron, and Excalibur called it Black Tiger&#8217;s Divine Punishment.<\/p>\n<p>In the ring, Kid performed a bridging fisherman&#8217;s suplex for a near fall. Kid followed up with a moonsault, but Thekla avoided it. Thekla speared Kid. Kid avoided a Stomp and then drilled Thekla with a dropkick to the back. The wrestlers fought in the middle of the ring. Kid threw several punches and then slammed Thekla, who came right back with a clothesline. Thekla hit Kid with a running kick. Thekla stood on the apron and threw another kick. Thekla went up top and performed a crossbody block for a two count. Thekla did the spider walk and charged for a spear, but Kid clipped her knee. Kid performed Numero Dos and swung around. Kid applied a submission hold, but Thekla reached the bottom rope to break it.<\/p>\n<p>Kid performed Divine Punishment in the middle of the ring for a near fall. Kid hit a top rope moonsault for another near fall. A &#8220;this is awesome&#8221; chant broke out. Thekla stuffed a Tiger Suplex attempt and then rolled Kid into a close near fall. Thekla did a Matrix to duck a running punch. Thekla speared Kid and covered her for another close near fall. Thekla followed up with a Stomp. Thekla got in Kid&#8217;s face and screamed. Thekla looked at Okada in the crowd and then hit another Stomp and got the three count.<\/p>\n<p><em>Thekla defeated Starlight Kid in 18:45 to retain the AEW Women&#8217;s Championship.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Okada was shown looking concerned while seated in the front row. Julia Hart and Skye Blue came out. Hart handed Thekla a pair of scissors. Thekla laughed at Okada and then cut Kid&#8217;s mask and pulled it off her head. Knox quickly covered Kid&#8217;s head with a black towel. Thekla showed off the mask and then spat on it. Thekla took the mask to ringside and shoved it in Okada&#8217;s face. Thekla beat Okada with the mask. Thekla held up the mask and posed for a camera on the floor while Hart and Blue stood behind her&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Okada really brought that shit on himself (or something). This was Thekla&#8217;s best outing in AEW. It was a good match, but I was just as impressed by Thekla&#8217;s cocky facial expressions and the way she heeled it up for the crowd and the cameras. It was also good to see her win clean, as she&#8217;s had a lot of cheap wins since winning the championship. Here&#8217;s hoping for more clean, credibility-building wins for Thekla. For those not watching, Thekla pulled off the mask while Kid was face down, so her face was never shown on camera unless I missed something.<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the AEW Tag Team Title match&#8230; David Finlay and Clark Connors made their entrance. Four photographers took photos of them on the entrance ramp until Finlay and Connors attacked them. Adam Copeland made his entrance. The fans sang his entrance theme after it stopped playing. Christian Cage&#8217;s entrance followed&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs. &#8220;The Dogs&#8221; David Finlay and Clark Connors for the AEW Tag Team Titles.<\/strong> The broadcast team spoke about Finlay severing ties with his family, and Schiavone recalled when he referred to his father, Fit Finlay, as a bag of bones on Collision. Christian, who had a brace on his right forearm, sold it when he dove at Connors, who moved, causing him to fall to the floor. The heels targeted the injury.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the challengers hit a chop block and spear combo, which led to Finlay getting a nice near fall on Copeland. The champions came back with Copeland popping up Finlay into a Christian spear. Copeland had Finlay pinned, but Connors shoved Christian into the referee. REF BUMP!!! Hilariously, McGuinness accused Christian of attacking the referee. Copeland and Connors performed simultaneous spears. Finlay grabbed his shillelagh and hit Christian with it. Finlay set up to hit Copeland with the weapon.<\/p>\n<p>The lights went out. When they turned on, The Bang Bang Gang&#8217;s Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Juice Robinson, and Ace Austin were on the stage under a spotlight. The rest of the lights turned on and revealed that Jay White was in the ring. Finlay turned around and ran toward White, who put him down with a Blade Runner. A &#8220;holy shit&#8221; chant broke out as White left the ring. Copeland speared and pinned Finlay.<\/p>\n<p><em>Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs. &#8220;The Dogs&#8221; David Finlay and Clark Connors in 16:45 to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Copeland spoke to Finlay right after the pin. Jay White returned to the ring and raised Copeland&#8217;s hand. Christian and White bickered while Copeland played peacekeeper until White left the ring. White and the other Bang Bang Gang members ran toward each other and jumped together&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> There was no reason to expect a title change, and yet this was entertaining and more suspenseful than I anticipated. It was great to see Jay White return. His last match was on March 29, 2025, so it&#8217;s been well over a year. Given White&#8217;s long history with NJPW, this was the perfect show for his return,<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the women&#8217;s Owen Hart Cup tournament final. Maya World made her entrance to a decent reception. She was accompanied onto the stage by Hyan, who then headed to the back. Renee Paquette spoke at ringside. Mercedes Mone made her entrance&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Mercedes Mone vs. Maya World in the women\u2019s Owen Hart Cup tournament final. <\/strong>Roughly five minutes in, Mone was in total control after hitting a couple of meteoras.<\/p>\n<p>She played to the crowd by counting along with the referee while World was down on the floor. The count reached nine, and then Mone went to the floor and hit World to break it up. Mone flipped off the fans.<\/p>\n<p>Later, World battled back and performed a couple of fallaway slams. She performed a third, which tossed Mone through the ropes. World hit a suicide dive. She put Money back in the ring and then went up top and performed a Swanton for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>World caught Mone on the ropes, facing the crowd, and kicked her. World tried to pull her down with a powerbomb, but Mone held the ropes. Mone struggled to pull up World for a powerbomb and ended up shoving her into the corner. Mone performed a sunset bomb that drove World into the corner. World caught Mone in her own Statement Maker finisher. Mone reached the ropes and then World rolled her over while trying to maintain the hold, but Mone slipped out and hooked in a Statement Maker of her own. World was an inch away from reaching the ropes when Mone rolled her into a pin for a near fall. World reversed it for a near fall. Mone performed a rough Backstabber and then reapplied the Statement Maker. World tapped out.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mercedes Mone defeated Maya World in 24:55 to win the women\u2019s Owen Hart Cup tournament to earn a shot at the AEW Women\u2019s Championship at All In. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mone went to the stage and held up the pink title belt that&#8217;s awarded to the winner while pyro shot off&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Renee Paquette interviewed ROH Women&#8217;s Champion Athena behind the fans on the main floor. Athena said it was clear that the better woman won the previous match. She said that had she not had a lapse in judgment, no one would know who Maya World is. Athena told World to keep fighting the good fight. Athena mentioned World&#8217;s &#8220;The It Girl&#8221; nickname and said that &#8220;It belongs at the back of the line&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Great drama. The live crowd&#8217;s tame reaction to World&#8217;s entrance was a bit concerning. It seemed possible that World&#8217;s story hadn&#8217;t registered with fans as much as company officials hoped. But the fans really got behind her as the match went on. Dot Net staffer John Moore is in the building and wrote to say that while World had a wardrobe malfunction at one point, Mone did her best to stall. Does the Athena promo mean that World will be chasing her for the ROH Women&#8217;s Championship? That would be fine if it played out on AEW television, but I think it could be a wasted opportunity if they meet on ROH shows.<\/p>\n<p>The giant, circular, roofless cage was lowered around the ringside area while music played and lights flashed&#8230; A video package set up the cage match. Ring announcer Justin Roberts stood outside the cage for the introductions. MJF came out first, wearing a robe with the homoerotic picture of him and Don Callis on it. Callis came out wearing that image on a Team DCMJF t-shirt. Callis hugged MJF and then tore off the t-shirt he&#8217;d been wearing over a suit. The other team members were introduced, and they all came out wearing the same Team DCMJF t-shirts. MJF&#8217;s tapestry was lowered and then fell into the cage.<\/p>\n<p>Darby Allin and Konosuke Takeshita made their entrances and stood on the stage. Mark Briscoe&#8217;s entrance theme played. Briscoe and the rest of the team walked out with him, and the full team headed to the ring together. The Conglomeration members all had backpacks. Darby swapped his skateboard for O&#8217;Reilly&#8217;s backpack&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada, Andrade El Idolo, and Jake Doyle vs. Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O\u2019Reilly in a six-on-six cage match.<\/strong> Briscoe gets a shot at the AEW World Championship if his team wins. Excalibur said Don Callis kicked Walker Stewart out of his seat at the broadcast table.<\/p>\n<p>MJF and Andrade pushed and shoved early, but their teammates pulled them apart. Strong brought a big hockey bag into the ring and hit the heels with it. Strong pulled it under the bottom rope and stuffed it under the ring. O&#8217;Reilly pulled an old-school Nintendo out of one of the backpacks. &#8220;What a nerd,&#8221; Callis said. Funny. O&#8217;Reilly and Briscoe used the PlayStation and the power cord as weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Briscoe dumped thumbtacks out of one of the other backpacks. Fletcher, who was already bleeding, tossed Briscoe off the top rope onto the tacks. Darby worked over Fletcher with a skateboard.<\/p>\n<p>MJF had his left leg heavily wrapped again. Darby tried to punch MJF onto the tacks, but MJF stayed on his feet. Darby ran the ropes, but MJF launched him over his head with a backdrop that caused Allin to do a flip and land with his hands and face on the tacks. MJF covered Darby for a two count. Darby&#8217;s hands bled. MJF got a push broom and pushed the tacks out of the ring while the fans booed.<\/p>\n<p>MJF stood in the middle of the ring and held his arms out. Cassidy grabbed the broom that MJF was standing over and pulled it up into his groin. Cassidy pulled a bag of orange slices out of a backpack. &#8220;Good luck tonight,&#8221; read a message from Willow Nightingale on the orange slice bag. The babyfaces ate some orange slices while one of the broadcast team members called it a hydration break. Funny.<\/p>\n<p>Fletcher returned to the ring and swatted the orange slice bag out of Cassidy&#8217;s hand. O&#8217;Reilly put Fletcher in a sleeper. Strong held Fletcher&#8217;s eye open, and then Cassidy squeezed orange juice into it. Good lord. A &#8220;you sick f&#8212;&#8221; chant broke out.<\/p>\n<p>Okada and Takeshita squared off. Takeshita got the better of a series of elbow strikes. Takeshita picked up a backpack and acted like he was digging inside for something before he pulled his hand out and flipped off Okada, who smiled before swinging at Takeshita, who ducked it and then dropped him with another elbow strike. Fletcher put Takeshita down with a half-and-half suplex. Takeshita shoved Okada into Fletcher. Okada held Takeshita. Fletcher threw a kick that Takeshita ducked, causing Okada to take it in the face. Takeshita performed a double German suplex on both men.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, Doyle caught Allin on the top rope and battered him with a chair until he fell into the tree of woe position. Doyle held a chair in front of Darby, and then Knight hit him with a Coast to Coast dropkick. A &#8220;this is awesome&#8221; chant broke out.<\/p>\n<p>MJF threw a chair at the head of Briscoe, who fell to the mat. MJF posed and then raked Briscoe&#8217;s bloody forehead. MJF put on the Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF had Okada open the hockey bag on the floor. Lio Rush emerged from the bag doing his Gollum gimmick. Lio bit Okada&#8217;s hand. Okada tried to follow him into the ring, but Lio knocked him off the apron. Lio avoided Knight and ended up kicking him. MJF squared off with Lio, who wanted the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Okada grabbed Lio and hit him with a Rainmaker. JJF had Doyle put Lio back inside the hockey bag, which was chained and shoved back under the ring.<\/p>\n<p>Briscoe had a Terry Funk ladder spot and appeared to drill Andrade in the head with it. Why? A short time later, Takeshita performed a Blue Thunder Bomb off the apron, causing him and Fletcher to crash through a table on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Darby hit MJF with a Coffin Drop and went for the pin. Knight performed a frog splash, but Allin moved, so Knight landed on MJF. Knight jumped from the ring to the cage and pulled himself up to avoid Darby hitting him with a chair. Darby climbed on top of the cage. Knight pulled a backpack that was on top of the cage, and it exploded, causing Knight to fall off the cage through tables on the floor. The announcers said Darby boobytrapped the bag. Darby performed a Coffin Drop onto a group of wrestlers.<\/p>\n<p>Doyle held Briscoe. MJF told Andrade to hold Briscoe. Andrade barked back at him, but MJF insisted. Andrade held Briscoe while MJF tried to hit him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Andrade shoved Briscoe aside and dropped MJF with the spinning back elbow. Andrade signaled that he wants the AEW World Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Doyle complained until Andrade kicked him in the balls. Andrade removed the shirt he was wearing to reveal a &#8220;F&#8212; Don, F&#8212; MJF&#8221; t-shirt. Briscoe hit a Jay Driller on Doyle and then pinned him&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O\u2019Reilly defeated MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada, Andrade El Idolo, and Jake Doyle in 30:50 a steel cage match.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Well, that was insane, at times in the best possible way, and at other times in the worst possible way. The comedy spots won&#8217;t be for everyone, but they landed with the live crowd. The unprotected blows to the head were a turnoff for all of the obvious reasons. Putting those aside, there was more good than bad, and this match exceeded my expectations. I hope they don&#8217;t go overboard with it like the Stadium Stampede and Anarchy in the Arena matches.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcast team hyped the Survival of the Fittest match for the vacant TBS Title for Dynamite&#8230; A brief Willow Nightingale video aired&#8230; The crew was cleaning up the mess to prepare for the main event.<\/p>\n<p>Lexi Nair interviewed Mark Briscoe, who called for his AEW World Championship match to take place on Wednesday&#8217;s Dynamite&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A video package set up the main event&#8230; Will Ospreay knelt on the stage with a black hood over his head. A security guard pulled it off, revealing that he was wearing a smoking mask. Ospreay made his entrance and removed the second mask. Swerve Strickland drove a motorcycle to the side of the stage. Swerve joined Prince Nana on the stage before they headed to the ring. Schiavone Ospreay&#8217;s mask was similar to Bane from the Batman comics, and I believe Excalibur said Swerve&#8217;s pre-match attire was inspired by another comic character named Lobo&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland in the men\u2019s Owen Hart Cup tournament final.<\/strong> Justin Roberts delivered in-ring introductions for the main event. Excalibur announced that MJF vs. Mark Briscoe for the AEW World Championship was official for Wednesday&#8217;s Dynamite.<\/p>\n<p>Over ten minutes in, Swerve removed the pad over the bottom turnbuckle while Ospreay was on the floor. Swerve went after Ospreay, who ran him into the ring post. Excalibur spoke about Ospreay&#8217;s submission training. Right on cue, Ospreay rolled Swerve into a crossarm breaker on the floor. Swerve immediately tapped out, but the announcers pointed out that there were no submissions on the floor. Referee Paul Turner got Ospreay to release the hold. Nana threw a cup of water or coffee on Ospreay. Swerve powerbombed Ospreay onto the ring apron. Ospreay came up bleeding heavily.<\/p>\n<p>Swerve put Ospreay&#8217;s head under the exposed turnbuckle and catapulted his face into it. Ospreay came up bleeding heavily. Swerve rolled the bloody Ospreay back inside the ring and slowly followed. Swerve got in Ospreay&#8217;s face. Ospreay threw some punches, but Swerve suplexed him and covered him for a near fall. Swerve charged Ospreay, who hit him with a standing Spanish Fly. Ospreay countered a Swerve move attempt with a Stunner and then hit a Styles Clash for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>Ospreay threw a standing Hidden Blade at Swerve, who no-sold it and then blasted Ospreay with the same move, and Ospreay fell to the mat. Swerve went up top, but Ospreay cut him off. Both men fought for position on the top rope. Swerve went for a powerbomb, but Ospreay countered with a huracanrana. Ospreay hit a twisting kick for a near fall. Ospreay went for an OsCutter, but Swerve caught him and put him down with a Deadeye for a near fall of his own.<\/p>\n<p>Swerve went for a double stomp, but Ospreay moved, and Swerve landed on the apron. Ospreay went for a sunset bomb, but Swerve held on for a bit. Swerve pulled him free and then swung his head into the ring steps. Swerve ducked his head behind the ring skirting and came back a bloody mess. Ospreay set up Swerve for a move on the ring steps, but Nana swiped at his leg. Ospreay went after Nana, who ducked a punch. Swerve hit Ospreay with a House Call kick on the floor. They fought for position on top of the ring steps. Ospreay got the better of it and performed a Styles Clash from the steps onto the broadcast table that didn&#8217;t budge.<\/p>\n<p>Swerve beat the referee&#8217;s count at nine, but Ospreay was waiting and hit him with a springboard dropkick. Ospreay hit an OsCutter and covered Swerve for a near fall. Ospreay threw a few kicks to Swerve&#8217;s head. A short time later, Swerve hit a House Call, but Ospreay kicked out at one and then hit him with a Hidden Blade, which led to Swerve kicking out at one. They both got up and hit simultaneous clotheslines, which left both men down.<\/p>\n<p>Both men went to opposite corners and charged at the same time. Ospreay hit a Hidden Blade. Ospreay followed up with a Stormbreaker for a near fall. Swerve came back with a kick to the balls that the referee missed due to having to avoid Ospreay a moment earlier. Swerve hit the Vertebreaker for a near fall. Swerve hit a kneeling Ospreay with a Hidden Blade. Swerve followed up with another move and covered Ospreay for a near fall.<\/p>\n<p>The Death Riders&#8217; Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, Pac, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia showed up at ringside and fired up Ospreay, who hit a Buckshot Hidden Blade for a near fall. Ospreay performed a Paradigm Shift and then picked up Swerve and hit him with a Death Rider. Ospreay followed up with the Tiger Driver and finally got the three count.<\/p>\n<p><em>Will Ospreay defeated Swerve Strickland 35:30 to win the men&#8217;s Owen Hart Cup tournament to earn a shot at the AEW World Championship at All In.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ospreay got to his feet and looked down at Swerve, who was on his knees. Ospreay dropped to one knee and spoke to him, but his music was playing, so it was hard to make out, and closed captioning didn&#8217;t catch it either. Ospreay celebrated while Swerve rolled out of the ring. The Death Riders brought Ospreay the Owen Hart Cup and the title belt. Moxley and Castagnoli put Ospreay on their shoulders while pyro shot off. The Death Riders all congratulated Ospreay before leaving through the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Ospreay&#8217;s wife, Alex Windsor, joined him at ringside and hugged him. Ospreay and Windsor walked up the ramp together. She headed backstage while Ospreay stood on the stage and played to the crowd. Ospreay yelled, &#8220;See you at Wembley, baby,&#8221; to close the show&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Powell&#8217;s POV:<\/strong><\/span> Great effort from both men. The one thing working against the match was the feeling that an Ospreay win was inevitable. But the predictability was unavoidable in telling the most appealing story of Ospreay going over to get the title shot at Wembley. It was still one hell of a war between two of the company&#8217;s finest fighting for a shot at the company&#8217;s top title on the company&#8217;s biggest show of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, this was another strong AEW pay-per-view. I covered most of the positives throughout my review, but I have to say that it overstayed its welcome by ending six minutes before 12CT\/1ET. I&#8217;m a night owl, so this isn&#8217;t about me. Rather, I wonder how many fans threw in the towel before the show ended because they had to work in the morning. Sure, they can watch it on delay, and some will, but this is a turnoff. It&#8217;s the most common complaint I hear from readers about AEW pay-per-views, and I just don&#8217;t know why Tony Khan refuses to budge. If he can&#8217;t show more discipline, then the least he could do is start these shows an hour earlier.
