Cena went for an AA, but Cody countered into a pin for a two count. Cody caught Cena with a punch and then went to the ropes. Cena crotched Cody on the top turnbuckle. The “Let’s Go Cena” and “Cena Sucks” chants started. Cena went to the second rope and hit an AA and then covered Cody for a good near fall. Cena showed some frustration over not getting the pin.

Cena went up top and dove at Cody for a leg drop, but Cody caught him and powerbombed him on the way down, which led to a near fall. Cody ran up the ropes and hit a Cody Cutter for another near fall. Cody set up for the Cody Cutter, but Cena countered into an AA. Cena put Cody in a super loose STFU. He released the hold and dragged Cody back to the middle of the ring and applied the weak looking hold. Cody nearly reached the ropes, but Cena pulled him to the middle of the ring. Cody kicked Cena, who collided with the referee. REF BUMP!!!

Cody hit CrossRhodes for a visual pinfall while the referee was down. Cena removed a top turnbuckle pad and ended up running Cody into it twice. Cena hit another AA. The referee recovered and counted a near fall.

Travis Scott’s song played and he slowly walked to the ring with a title belt over his shoulder. Scott climbed on the apron. Cena held up Scott’s arm. Cody fought back and then Scott dropped off the apron. Cody hit CrossRhodes and had the pin, but Scott pulled the referee out of the ring. Scott entered the ring and faced off with Cody. Scott took a swing at Cody, who blocked it and hit Scott with CrossRhodes.

Cena tried to hit Cody with the belt, but Cody saw it coming and took the belt from him. Cena begged off. Cody hesitated and lowered the belt. Cena kicked Cody in the balls. Cena picked up the title belt and hit Cody with it. The referee returned to the ring and then made the three count…

John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in 21:40 to win the WWE Championship.

Cole said whether fans like or not and they probably don’t like it, Cena did it. He referred to Cena as The Goat. Cena celebrated his win with Travis Scott. Cole wrapped up the show. The screen went black and the post-game show started…

Powell’s POV: I couldn’t care less about Travis Scott, and The Rock was conspicuous by his absence. The match was nothing special from a work standpoint, but the crowd was hot for it. Overall, night two started very strong and then dropped off a bit for the last three matches. Fans who were pumped for Lynch’s return and Cena winning likely loved the show. I will have a lot more to say about the show and the overall weekend when Jake Barnett and I team up for our same night audio review for Dot Net Members (including our Patreon patrons).
