WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit

-Ross on a movie role: "My management team has been approached about a movie role for me that we should either accept or decline in the next day or so. It's an independent comedy film that sounds like a fun project on which to work. Stay tuned."

Powell's POV: Look out, Rock, you might have competition! I have friends who would probably prefer J.R. over Ben Affleck as the new Batman. Oh, an indy flick? Hmm.

-Ross on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: "In WWE it's imperative for every talent that can to talk about the importance of the WWE World title especially now that it's in an undesired state of limbo due to Daniel Bryan's neck surgery. WWE can ill afford for any luster to be lost from their top championship and one that in both fact and fiction that each man on the roster should be dying to win for a variety of viable reasons including more money in their pocket."

Powell's POV: Great point. I wish this was just the norm, as you would think that the goal of every character would be to eventually win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Bray Wyatt promo on Raw made the title feel important, but there wasn't a lot of talk about the title from the other contenders. Even Roman Reigns winning the battle royal to earn a spot in the MITB match felt like it was more about outsmarting Triple H and Stephanie McMahon than his desire to be champion.

-Ross on Roman Reigns: "Roman Reigns is looking like the next 'it' guy, or so it seems, and I am completely fine with that. Great shine in the battle royal for the Samoan athlete and as I said months ago on the Ross Report Podcast, I've got Reigns winning the Rumble and then the WWE Title at WM31 and hopefully not before. WM31 is the only place to put Reigns on the desired pedestal. Plus, he is far from polished and that comes with time. In other words, I hope he isn't rushed or force fed to the fans."

Powell's POV: I agree that MITB feels too soon for Reigns and I'm not even sold on him winning the strap at WrestleMania 31 just yet. I don't think I can safely assess when it's his time until we see him work more singles matches. I love his upside and he comes across like the coolest guy in WWE, but the company needs to protect their investment by waiting until the time is right.
