WWE Main Event

April 15, 2014 from Nashville, Tenn.

The opening video played… Los Matadores made their full entrance to open the show. Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre were out next representing 3MB. Mahal cut a promo calling El Torito 'a pile of bull' before introducing their own mascot. He said tonight they're Two-and-a-Half-MB before Hornswoggle came out in 3MB gear.

1. Los Matadores (w/ El Torito) vs. 3MB (Mahal and McIntyre w/ Hornswoggle). Los Matadores took control early and spent a short time on offense against both opponents. About two minutes into the match, Torito and Hornswoggle brawled into the ring forcing the referee to call for the bell.

The match went to an apparent no-contest in about 2:00.

Hijynx ensued and ultimately, the four match participants took shots to the nuts leaving Torito and Hornswoggle alone in the ring to square off. They went after each other again and the segment ended with Los Matadores holding Torito back in the ring and 3MB holding Hornswoggle back on the ramp… The commentators hyped the main event of Jack Swagger vs. Big Show… The commentators mentioned Warrior's passing and said they would be paying tribute to him later in the show… [C]

Zim Says: I couldn't care less about anything I just saw. Sorry not sorry.

Sin Cara made his entrance. Bad News Barrett was out next to a good pop. He said that the Bad news for Sin Cara is that he's about to face the next IC Champion. He said that Cara's pal Scooby Doo wasn't there to help him, and the called him a joke.

2. Sin Cara vs. Bad News Barrett. Barrett went right after Sin Cara, but Sin Cara dropped the top rope and followed up with a big diving tope through the ropes. Back in the ring, Cara went to the top rope but Barrett cut his legs out and took control. Barrett hit a pumphandle slam and appeared to have momentum, but Sin Cara fired back a short time later. Cara hit a high kick from the apron, but missed the Swanton. Barrett planted him with the Winds of Change and then connected with the Bull Hammer for the win.

Bad News Barrett beat Sin Cara in about 3:20.

The commentators mentioned that Barrett would be facing Sheamus in the next round of the tournament this coming Monday on Raw…  The tribute to Ultimate Warrior was hyped coming up next… [C]

Zim Says: Essentially the same as we've been seeing from Barrett since his return last week. I'm surprised at how well the crowd is responding to him, but it's a pleasant surprise because the guy definitely has something worth presenting on TV. I'm excited to see where he goes.

The Ultimate Warrior memorial video package aired followed by the 10 bell salute from Raw…Warrior Week on the WWE Network was hyped for 10pm ET tonight through Friday…

Back in the arena, Lilian Garcia announced that the following was a battle royal to determine Paige's challenger at Extreme Rules. The Bellas, The Funkadactyls, Emma, Tamina Snuka, Alicia Fox, Aksana, Eva Marie, Layla, and Natalya all got individual entrances. A replay showed Paige beating AJ Lee for the Divas Championship two weeks ago.

3. Battle Royal for a shot at the Divas Championship at Extreme Rules. Eva Marie is terrible and was eliminated first. Emma tried to skin-the-cat back into the ring, but was eliminated. Aksana was eliminated. Layla hilariously (unintentionally) botched a crossbody attempt and was eliminated. Naomi and Cameron were both eliminated by Tamina. Alicia Fox was eliminated, followed by Nikki Bella. Tamina eliminated Natalya with a superkick for the win…

Tamina Snuka earned a Divas Championship match in about 3:20.

An Adam Rose vignette aired…[C]

Zim Says: Good lord that was awful. Almost so bad it was good. Except not.

The commentators hyped John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a steel cage at Extreme Rules… a Raw recap highlighted The Authority, The Shield, and the reformation of Evolution… It was advertised that Triple H will address the fans this Friday on Smackdown…

Jack Swagger made his entrance. Zeb Colter was carrying signs that said "I don’t miss the Swiss" and "deport Cesaro…" [C] Back from break, Zeb cut a promo. He listed Benedict Arnold, Jane Fonda, and Cesaro, and then said they were all backstabbing traitors. He thanked Cesaro for confirming everything he had been saying: "Once a sneaky immigrant; always a sneaky immigrant." Zeb bashed Paul Heyman before turning his attention to the Big Show. He called Show the poster boy for American laziness. He announced that he did not miss the Swiss before delivering the "We the people" line to close. Big Show was out next.

 4. Jack Swagger (w/ Zeb Colter) vs. Big Show. Swagger hit the ropes, but Show lifted his boot and Swagger ran right into it. Show hit several chops to the chest before Swagger regained momentum and began to target Show's leg. He hit a front chop block and a foot DDT before settling into a grounded leglock.

Show worked back to his feet, but Swagger went right back to the leg and hit two Swagger Bombs for a two-count. Swagger stayed in control and seemed to forget the game plan briefly before Big Show fought back. Show planted Swagger with a weak flapjack and set up for the chokeslam, but Swagger rolled through into the Patriot Lock. Colter berated Show from ringside and implored him to tap out, but Show rolled over and goozled Swagger. Show shoved Swagger into the ropes and caught him with the KO Punch for the win.

The Big Show pinned Jack Swagger in about 6:00.

Show sold his leg after the match and the commentators played it up, but he was able to limp around the ring in celebration. A replay showed the finish and the show closed with Big Show taking off his boot and continuing to sell his ankle at ringside…

Zim Says: A mediocre main event to a mediocre show. Normally I like to give some analysis in this last section, but the only thing of relevance that comes to mind is Tamina becoming Paige's challenger at Extreme Rules. I expect they'll put on a good match, but its not anything im outright excited for. Overall, this show reminded me why I don’t watch Main Event unless I hear the show has a stand-out match or performance.
