WWE "ECW on Syfy" Hitlist: William Regal's faction, Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill, Zack Ryder, Christian and Tommy Dreamer vs. Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson, new interview girl
Sep 9, 2009 - 04:30 PM

WWE “ECW on Syfy” Hits

William Regal, Vladimir Kozlov, and Ezekiel Jackson: Regal has been absolutely fantastic in his current role. His facial expressions and willingness to let his crew do the heavy lifting is great stuff. Of course, Regal himself can go in the ring so it’s not like he is the cowardly heel that cannot back anything up. I am really enjoying these three together and am looking forward to more from them. Unfortunately, they really don’t have a lot of options for feuds.

Hurricane Helms vs. Paul Burchill: ECW has done a nice job building feuds outside of the ECW Championship picture. Goldust vs. Sheamus was done well. It looks like they are going with Sheamus vs. Shelton Benjamin next. Hurricane vs. Burchill is no exception. They have been building this one slowly and their match last night was a good one. Unfortunately, besides the title itself, there is nothing in ECW to feud over, so they get bonus points for making undercard feuds entertaining.

Zack Ryder wins a squash match: Ryder doesn’t seem to be getting any reaction from the live audiences, but truth be told, neither is anyone (except for Goldust). I figured Ryder was going to be put on the back burner for awhile but it was nice to see him get a win. Hopefully they can push him accordingly, even though they dropped the ball after his good match with Christian some weeks back.

WWE “ECW on Syfy” Misses

Christian and Tommy Dreamer vs. Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson: A fifteen minute squash? Well, that is basically what this was. Kozlov and Jackson dominated both Christian and Dreamer and with the exception of a few moments after hot tags. Christian and Dreamer never got over the hump and the heels took the win. I’m okay with the result, because Kozlov and Jackson are now over as a duo and not just lackeys to Regal.

Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust vs. Sheamus and Shelton Benjamin: Smackdown seemed to have a thrown together women’s tag team match every single week and ECW is starting to throw out one of those during their show too. It is one thing to have main event guys work tag team matches on Raw, but to have crap like this really kills the tag team division. If they wanted to build to Sheamus vs. Benjamin, they could have done it, say, on the Abraham Washington Show.

Savannah the new interview girl: So, all these girls need to do now is ask, “What are your thoughts on the upcoming match?” Didn’t ECW just get a new girl? I know not all of these girls will be as good as Lauren in TNA, but damn, add some life to the interviews girls.

Tyler Reks: The fans are silent when he wrestles and apparently, he doesn’t have much of a personality backstage either. You could barely hear what he was saying and he was made to look even worse when Regal stole the segment.
