WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt threatens a lawsuit for the publishing of details of past sexual harassment accusations involving Vince McMahon
Oct 13, 2010 - 01:24 PM |
By Rich Twilling
Back in 1992, former female WWE referee Rita Chatterton (Rita Marie) claimed on the Geraldo Rivera Show that she was sexually harassed by Vince McMahon. The McMahons sued Chatterton, but eventually dropped the suit to focus on the legal problems involving the steroids allegations in the then WWF.
The details of the situation, which can be read over at Talkingpointsmemo.com, also stated that McDevitt was informed of the publishing of the details of this. McDevitt told TPM, "You do so at your own peril. Preserve all of your notes, I'm going to send a litigation hold notice."
Twill's Two Cents: Very interesting read, especially since Chatterton basically accused Vince McMahon of rape and not just sexual harassment. McDevitt is correct here because the publishing of these happenings so many years later is only done in a libelous way and in an attempt to defame Vince and Linda McMahon.
