WWE broadcaster Michael Cole (a/k/a Sean Michael Coulthard) spoke with Phil Strum of the Poughkeepsie Journal about his WrestleMania 27 match against Jerry Lawler. The dream's come true," Cole said. "I'm participating in an event against a man who is an absolute legend and Hall of Famer in Jerry Lawler.

"I'm so honored and privileged just to have the opportunity to participate in a match against this man. Plus Stone Cold is our special referee. To be in there with two of the greatest icons, it's like a reality check. It's such a great ride."

Cole also spoke about working as a heel. "Our crowd has always wanted to participate," said Cole. "Playing a bad guy, I think the crowd participates a lot more with me. When you have 15,000 people showering boos on you, it's unbelievable. I can't believe the audience is that invested in my character." To read the full interview, visit

Powell's POV: The interview was conducted last week before Cole's, um, moment on Twitter on Saturday. He hasn't done many interviews that I've seen, so it's worth checking out. He also spoke about his own family's reaction to his heel mic work, and told a fun story about his own father telling him that he's an "obnoxious man."
