ROH on HDNet
Best of 2010 Special.

A graphic titled this the Best of 2010. Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak checked in on commentary. They setup a video that recapped Davey Richards vs. Eddie Edwards for the TV Title…

1. Eddie Edwards defeated Davey Richards to win the new ROH TV Championship. The match was joined in process as Richards hit a German suplex for two. They battled in the corner and then to the top of the turnbuckles. Edwards hit a supercanranna and a powerbomb for two. Richards kicked out into an Achilles lock. He made the ropes to make the break and the men battled on the apron.

Richards hit several kicks but one hit the post. Edwards dropped the knee on the apron and hit a dragon screw leg whip in the ropes. He followed with a stomp off the top and hooked in the Achilles lock again. Richards made the ropes and slammed Edwards. He hit a missile dropkick and shooting star press for two. Richard locked in a cross arm breaker and Edwards reversed into the Achilles lock. Richards tapped out…The announce team hyped the Kings of Wrestling for next…[C]

Shore's Slant: Wow. Sick match. Hate I missed this the first time. A lot of the opening stuff was cut as we were straight into the action. Looks like we won't get a whole match tonight, but that's OK. This gives new viewers a chance to see some of the biggest moments of the year. Now if only I knew a new viewer…

A video package highlighted several matches in ROH this year including the Briscoes defeating The Young Bucks in the Bucks last ROH match…A video recapped the Briscoes vs. The Kings of Wrestling feud…

2. The Kings of Wrestling defeated the Briscoes on 10/25. Chris Hero tossed Mark to the floor and Claudio Castagnoli hit a suplex on the floor. Shane Hagadorn even got a cheap shot in. Back in the ring, Mark ducked an elbow shot that took out Claudio and got the hot tag to Jay. Jay cleaned house and setup for the DVD on Claudio. Claudio escaped and Jay hit a J-Driver. Hero broke the count.

Mark took out Hero and they setup for the Doomsday. Hero grabbed Mark's foot to tie him up on the top and Claudio hit a back suplex on Jay. Hero choked Mark on the ropes to distract the ref and Hagadorn tried for a piledriver on Jay. Jay hit a backflip and grabbed Hagadorn. Hagadorn kicked Jay in the nuts and rolled out of the ring. Claudio covered for the win. Post-match, Papa Briscoe ran in and beat the hell out of Hagadorn…

Shore's Slant: Another good match that I had seen several clips of. This led to the great six man match we had at Final Battle.

3. Kevin Steen and Steve Corino defeated Colt Cabana and El Generico in a street fight on 7/19. It took a moment to get your bearings in this match. Generico hit a half nelson suplex on Corino on the table. He hit a half nelson suplex on chairs on Steen. Corino fought him off and Steen hit a package brain buster on the chair on Generico for two. The chair was bent all to hell.

Steen and Corino set a barricade across chairs, and a table across the top turnbuckle. Cabana made the save and El Generico set Corino on the barricade. He went to the top, but Steen stopped him. Corino ran up and hit a superplex on the railing. Cabana made the save.

Shore's Slant: Holy Mary mother of God.

Cabana setup a table in the ring and set Corino on the table across the turnbuckle. He climbed up on the top table and Corino stood. Corino hit a superplex on the table for the pinfall victory. Steen and Generico were shown battling in the parking lot after the match…The Steen vs. Generico feud recap video aired…[C]

Shore's Slant: Dear God those table and railing spots were unreal. All of this was a setup for their match at Final Battle, which if you haven't seen, well then you suck.

A video recapped Davey Richards's decision to stay in ROH…The announce team hyped the returns of Homicide and Christopher Daniels to ROH.

4. Davey Richards defeated Tyler Black on 10/18 in Black's last ROH match. Richards hit several kick in a row on the apron and then a spike DDT on the apron. Black made it back in at 19.999. Richards hit a suplex and then a German suplex with bridge for two. The announce team bagged on the stupid WWE name that Black would probably have.

Richards missed a shooting star press. Black hit a bucklebomb and superkick for two. He hooked the cloverleaf, but Richards reversed into a rollup for two. Black setup for the phoenix splash, but Richards ran up the ropes and attacked. Black hit a shitload of chops to tie Richards to the tree of woe. Black went to the adjacent buckle and hit a coast to coast dropkick for a great two count.

Black went for the Phoenix splash and Richards got the knees up. Black hit another super kick and Richards went nuts. He hit a bucklebomb and God's last gift for two. Richards locked in the cloverleaf and Black tapped out. Post-match, Richards told Black to tell "them boys up north" that if they wanted real wrestling they should come to Philly and ROH…

Shore's Slant: Awesome match. A lot of good back in forth with only a small amount of no selling big moves. Everybody and their brother hits a super kick in ROH so they all no sell it to some degree. That annoys me as a HBK fan, but makes sense when you consider everybody hits the damn move.

The announce team setup a video that recapped the Final Battle ROH title match between Roderick Strong and Davey Richards, The Briscoes vs. The KOW, and El Generico vs. Kevin Steen…Hogewood and Prazak closed the show with a gold boat joke that I assume I would get if I watched before now…

Shore's Slant: Fun show that gave us a nice look at some of what 2010 gave us and what 2011 promises to some degree. I look forward to covering this show each week going forward, and new shows will also get the audio treatment. If' you're still not watching, now's a good time to start. Thanks for reading along with me tonight and go join Jason Powell for his Raw live coverage.
