-The WWE Smackdown taping takes place tonight in Tulsa, Oklahoma at BOK Center. The show will feature the continuation of the tag team tournament that will determine the No. 1 contenders to Daniel Bryan and Kane for a match at Hell in a Cell. The Smackdown first-round match features The Prime Time Players vs. Kofi Kingston and R-Truth. We are looking for additional correspondents for tonight's tapings. If you are going to the show and want to help, contact me at

-WWE will also be taping the premiere episode of WWE Main Event tonight in Tulsa. The show is headlined by the WWE Champion C.M. Punk vs. World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus non-title match. Plus, the tag tournament continues with Zack Ryder and Santino Marella facing Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd in another first-round match.

-The Main Event show will debut tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. CT on ION network. Chris Shore will be covering the show live as it airs just as we do for all of the major television shows.

-The champion vs. champion match is advertised as the main event of tonight's Smackdown taping. Paul Heyman will be in Punk's corner for the match. In other words, there is no dark match advertised. The addition of the WWE Main Event taping to Tuesdays will make for an even longer night for fans at the Smackdown tapings going forward, so I'm curious to see how quickly WWE moves the tapings along to avoid killing the crowd and potentially damaging the towns in the future with marathon shows.

-In a dark match held prior to Raw, David Otunga defeated Michael McGillicutty.

-WWE Hall of Famer Yokozuna (a/k/a Rodney Anoai) was born on this date in 1966. He died on October 23, 2000 from pulmonary edema at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool, England while working a wrestling tour. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year by extended family members Rikishi and Jimmy and Jey Uso.

-Who are you to doubt El Dandy? The luchador is celebrating his 50th birthday today. Roberto Gutierrez Frias was born on October 2, 1962. He made a big splash in Mexico, and thanks to Bret Hart's line on WCW Nitro he is fondly remembered elsewhere.

-There are no pro wrestling shows listed for ESPN Classic tonight.
