WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt comments on the possibility of taking take legal action against TNA over the ECW reunion at the Hardcore Justice pay-per-view
WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt responded to Alfonso Castillo's question on whether the company intends to pursue legal action against TNA over the Hardcore Justice pay-per-view. "The WWE is the sole owner of the ECW marks, and as with all of WWE's intellectual property it will be vigorously protected," McDevitt said. "TNA acts at its peril if its infringes upon WWE's rights."
Powell's POV: It will be interesting to see whether WWE goes after TNA for holding what is clearly an ECW reunion show on Sunday night. One source within the industry noted that WWE could file a protest of the EV2.0 trademark since it's Extreme Version 2.0 seems to be an extension of the ECW name. Thanks to Alfonso for passing along the quote. You can check out his full blog on the situation in the Steel Cage blog at Newsday.com.
