WWE announced Monday that Eric LeGrand will be the recipient of the Warrior Award at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. “It is an absolute honor to be named the 2017 Warrior Award recipient,” LeGrand stated in a WWE website story. “I am truly grateful for WWE’s support of my personal journey, and I am proud to continue to be an example of strength for people everywhere.” Read the official announcement at WWE.com

Powell’s POV: LeGrand is a former Rutgers college football layer who suffered a spinal injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Dana Warrior will present the award at the ceremony on March 31. With all due respect to LeGrand and past winners, it is a shame that WWE didn’t honor Warrior’s wishes in terms of presenting an award to someone who works behind the scenes in WWE.
