WWE Talking Smack – Elimination Chamber Edition

-Renee Young and Daniel Bryan checked in from the Talking Smack set post PPV. Renee thought we might have seen the WrestleMania picture set but Bryan countered by saying that since he’s GM he can change the card with title matches and such. Renee said she thought AJ Styles was coming out as champion. Bryan was about to say something but he mentioned how someone was yelling in his headset.
-Bryan took off the headset as Alexa Bliss and Mickie James joined the set as the first guests of the night. Alexa Bliss said tonight was just a small hiccup of her career. Alexa said her day was a nightmare mostly due to the sun and she blamed her loss on a bad day. Mickie said she Bryan and Renee have no heart for interviewing Alexa and her on such a bad day.
-Bryan wondered if Mickie and Alexa underestimated their opponents. They both brushed it off somewhat. Alexa Bliss wanted a title rematch before WrestleMania to take away Naomi’s Dream. Bryan mocked Alexa’s excuse of a bad day and told her to request the match when she had a good day with good weather, food, and health. Mickie said it felt like a slap in the face to not get recognized for her work in getting women’s wrestling recognized. Mickie called the current generation “the selfish generation” while people like Alexa are respectful.
-Mickie said they were going to set things right. Alexa said she thinks she is going to WrestleMania as champion in Naomi’s hometown. Bryan said his mind can change any time so who knows if she’ll get her rematch? Alexa and Mickie left the set. Renee said Bryan made things awkward. Bryan said Renee walking into James Ellsworth in the hallway was awkward.
-Bryan said we’ve seen more out of Luke Harper tonight than we’ve ever seen. Bryan said that William Regal told him years ago that Harper was the man to look at in the Wyatt Family. Bryan said we also saw the best Randy Orton tonight and Bray Wyatt or anyone else is in trouble. Renee wanted to know Bryan’s prediction. Bryan said based on tonight’s iterations of Wyatt and Orton, he’s going with Orton.
-They talked about Dolph Ziggler next. Bryan said he was more concerned with Apollo Crews and his leg. Bryan said it was heartbreaking to see this given that it’s so close to WrestleMania and to take a leg injury.
-American Alpha, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, were the next guests. Gable said they must be the king of the Turmoil match due to winning a second one. Gable said there will be consequences to the Usos for their post elimination attack. Bryan said he was most impressed by the Ascension. Gable said they looked good due to momentum and he learned that from his amateur wrestling background. Jordan said they looked superhuman tonight.
-Renee talked about the target on Alpha’s back heading into WrestleMania. Jordan talked about how they are ready given that they’ve thrown out the open challenge to any tag team. Bryan wanted to know their dream scenario. Chad Gable said his career goal was for a current generation tag team to main even WrestleMania. Jordan agreed. That ended their interview.
-Bryan said the Usos had a mean streak. He also said that being champion takes a toll on you in addition to the weekly travel and grind. Bryan said that could give the Ascension or the Usos a chance to beat the Alphas out of nowhere.
-Renee transitioned to the Nikki Bella vs. Natalya feud. Bryan said he has to separate his family life with business just like John Cena did on Tuesday when he didn’t back up Nikki. Renee said this might be a combination of all of the WWE, Total Divas, Smackdown, and other factors coming together. Bryan also brought up how the John Cena marriage stalling might be ripping out Nikki’s heart.
-Naomi was the next guest. Naomi showed off her new title. Bryan pointed out how Alexa’s plates were still on. Naomi said this moment was amazing and a dream.
-Renee brought up how Naomi was now a step closer to reaching her dream of entering WrestleMania as Women’s champion. Naomi brought up how at WrestleMania 29 her match got cut out, which Bryan has experienced himself. Naomi said it so much different today and a dream come true heading into her home town. Naomi said she was crying for 20 minutes straight when the fans got behind her. Bryan said he sees her popularity on social media and how people have been pushing for her after the draft. Naomi said that’s her motivation and she’s trying to get better.
-Bryan said there was seven weeks between now and WrestleMania and Bliss might get a rematch between then. Naomi said she was ready and it will take a hell of a person to take the title off her. Bryan joked about Bliss’s “bad day” excuse. Naomi said she would feed her if she needs it. Renee said she was genuinely happy to see her friend in a position. Bryan continued his “bad day” joke and connected it to Naomi promising to dance all the way to the ring. Naomi thanked the fans and Talking Smack ended.
John’s Thoughts: Yo! I can do pay-per-view editions of Talking Smacks too! And this one was just like most Talking Smacks in that Renee and Daniel do a good job moving the talents through positive character development. Bryan’s message for tonight was that we have a ton of time for Smackdown to build up to WrestleMania. Of course, since Bryan is only the kayfabe GM, he is at the behest of the writers as to what the final Mania card is. It may or may not include Naomi as champion with the possibility of Alexa taking the title back. Bryan really hammered that point down. Hmmmmmmm….
