TNA Impact Wrestling Hits

EC3 vs. Lashley vs. Mike Bennett vs. Trevor Lee in a No. 1 contenders match: The dynamic of having three heels in the match worked because it was established that it was every man for himself. The big negative is that you had to know Lee was there to lose the match. Nevertheless, the match was entertaining and the crowd was pleased by EC3 getting the win.

Fact of Life: A fun bit of role reversal with Eli Drake asking EC3 to put his newly earned TNA Title shot on the line just a couple weeks after Drake blew off a similar request from EC3. I usually cringe when wrestlers agree to put their title shots on the line, but I get a kick out of the stipulation that Drake won’t be able to speak if he loses. The negative of the talkshow segment continues to be the canned crowd reaction. It’s the same joke told over and over again, and the atmosphere is poor.

Aron Rex vs. Jessie Godderz: The atmosphere was lousy with the live crowd not seeming all that invested in the match. It still gets a minor Hit for continuing the program by giving Godderz a non-title win, and because Rex is slotted properly as a heel.

TNA Impact Wrestling Misses

DCC: Where’s the mission statement promo? Sure, we got another video at the top of the show, but we need to hear from the trio. So far it seems like the Anonymous attire is just something that someone thought would look cool rather than something of substance. The main event match against Jeff Hardy and Eddie Edwards was fine, but it’s hard to see the new faction as world beaters when they struggled to defeat two babyfaces in a handicap situation.

Brandi Rhodes and Madison Rayne vs. Laurel Van Ness and Sienna: Brandi looks really lost out there at times. I wonder how much they had to edit this match to get the right camera angles to cover some of those awkward moments. Sienna was the badass of the division not all that long ago, and now she’s putting over Brandi in a meaningless tag match. Brandi is a likable personality, but she still has a lot of work left to do.

Mahabali Shera vs. Basile Baraka: I tuned in for Impact and saw an Xplosion match. Pairing Snow with Shera can only help, but he’s not enough to make up for the other three.

Rosemary and Jade: Why didn’t Jade just tell Abyss and Steve to piss off when they suggested she go find Rosemary? And whey did she just stand there while Rosemary cut a promo on her?
