WWE is losing its German television partner once the contract expires in March 2017. TELE 5 announced that it will not be renewing its deal to air Raw. Read more at Power-wrestling.de. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Bronco Groen]

Powell’s POV: The numbers were considered strong in Germany, so the news is surprising. There’s no indication of where Raw will end up in Germany once the deal expires, but we’ll be sure to follow the story.

Update (4:15 p.m. CT): WWE issued the following statement to Prowrestling.net regarding the German television deal: “WWE is near the end of a positive and transparent bidding process for our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown, with strong responses from multiple parties.”

In other words, Raw and Smackdown will remain on their current German television homes into March 2017, and they are already in the process of exploring a new television deal with other parties.
