Logo_TNA_dn_600The identity of the former WWE wrestler who will debut on tonight’s TNA Impact Wrestling television show was revealed in a Rolling Stone interview. Aaron Steven Haddad, who worked as Damien Sandow in WWE, spoke about his decision to join TNA in an interview.

“TNA just seemed like the perfect spot for me,” he said. “They are a growing company with a proven track record. I really believe that they have their finger on the pulse of what the audience wants, and they will gear their product towards that.”

He added that he initially intended to take a break from pro wrestling. “I really was not planning on signing with anybody this soon, I was serious about that,” he said. “But the way the conversations went with several TNA officials, and the strong feeling of a family atmosphere, really made me want to explore the possibility of getting in the ring sooner than I expected.” Read the full interview at RollingStone.com.

Powell’s POV: Haddad worked as Aaron Stevens on the independent scene before becoming Damien Sandow in WWE. It’s unclear what name he will go by in TNA. I applaud TNA for letting the cat out of the bag rather than hyping this as a surprise. They have lived up to the hype at times, yet also underwhelmed fans with some of their past reveals. By telling viewers that it’s the man who worked as Damien Sandow, it creates more of a buzz than yet another big surprise.
