Sinclair Broadcast group issued the following press release to announce the appointment of Gregory Gilleland to the position of Ring of Honor general manager.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) announced that Gregory Gilleland has been promoted to General Manager of Ring of Honor Wrestling (“ROH”). The announcement was made by Joseph Koff, Chief Operating Officer of ROH and Vice President of Training and Development for Sinclair.

In making the announcement, Mr. Koff said, “We congratulate Greg on his well-deserved promotion. During his time as Business Manager for ROH, he implemented accounting processes, developed financial reporting, managed annual budgets and business strategies, and played a significant role in improving ROH’s profitability and brand.”

“I am very grateful for the opportunities that I have been given by Sinclair and ROH,” commented Mr. Gilleland. “I have been fortunate to be a part of the team that has helped grow ROH to become one of the major promotions in the wrestling world. As General Manager, I look forward to an even more exciting future, as we continue to grow the brand and provide what we believe is the best wrestling on the planet to the best fans on the planet.”

Mr. Gilleland joined Sinclair as a Financial Analyst in January 2010 and most recently served as Business Manager of Ring of Honor since June 2011. He graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Economics and has a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Baltimore.

Powell’s POV: I don’t recall ROH having a general manager in the past, so it looks like they created this role to give Gilleland a promotion.
