Smackdown Hits
Wyatt Family vs. The Shield: I didn't think they could heat this up as much as they did for the Elimination Chamber, but boy oh boy was I wrong. This was so simple, and yet so effective. Wyatt cuts a crazy ass promo. Shield surrounds the ring. Triple H books the match. Wyatt calls him the Shield's daddy and the whole dynamic changes. Then a touch of physical and get out. The feud I thought was over is the best feud on the show right now. It does make me wish they had waited a another year to do this because I think it would have been epic, but they are about to come close if this story continues to be this good.
Batista heel promo: While I fully admit I have no idea what this means for the WrestleMania title match with Randy Orton, I thought Batista's heel promo was a big Hit. He looked like a complete and utter douchebag, and struck a true chord by saying he didn't come back for anything but the championship. The added "real men" comments, and Dolph Ziggler challenge, set the groundwork for a future feud with supposed WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, a "195 pound wannabe."
Daniel Bryan and The Usos vs. Kane and the New Age Outlaws: The match gets a Hit for the in-ring action. I won't write it again below, but it does get a miss for being meaningless. I don't mind these six man matches as a way to keep feuds alive, but at least have a reason to have the match. WWE has 327 authority figures on payroll. Surely one of them could have booked this match to make it make sense. I know that sounds like a miss paragraph, but the match was enjoyable. A little formulaic, but still entertaining.
Smackdown Misses
The Divas: This was more of the same for the Divas division on Smackdown, but the reason it is such a miss is because of the NXT Arrival show the night before. Whoever saw Paige vs. Emma Thursday night and then saw this on Friday had to be left scratching their heads saying, "Why are Emma and Paige doing what they are doing there when up here we get women like Cameron, Alicia Fox, and the mad chick-killer Aksana?" It was a gal rig moment, and one seen by more than usual because of the NXT special on the network.
Batista vs. Dolph Ziggler: This match wasn't bad, but they told the wrong story. Batista should have sold to Ziggler's speed and quickness for the bulk of the match, almost losing, and then hit one big power move to win. That way Ziggler looks like he made one mistake and got caught. Instead, Batista sells some, and then comes back and grinds Dolph into the mat before winning. Dolph deserves better than that and Batista would have gotten over just a little bit more for his work with Ziggler.
