Shore's WWE Smackdown Hitlist: John Cena fails in the opening segment but has good main event, Randy Orton drops Miz…again, The SUos vs. The Shield Hits, The Divas miss, and the Wyatts face the wrong opponents

WWE Smackdown Hits

John Cena and The Rhodes Family vs. Damien Sandow and The Real Americans: A fun, long main event that showcased everyone in it very well. You had to expect the babyfaces to go over here, and they did, but considering this Smackdown was a glorified house show, it made the most sense. Jack Swagger taking the pin was the right call. Another pin from Cena on Sandow would have hurt is fledgling credibility and they smartly avoided that here. This isn't a match you'll be talking about the next day, but it was still a Hit.

The Uso's vs. The Shield: Besides the match itself being a Hit, the post-match antics with Roman Reigns and Big E Langston were a bigger Hit. The crowd liked Langston, something not every crowd has done since his recent push started, and they really liked the idea of Langston and Reigns going at it. I'm hoping these teases for breaking up the Shield are just that, teases, because I think the value of Reigns as a heel was confirmed here. The kid has money written all over him, but he's also the wrong type of green right now to realize that potential. WWE should leave the Shield alone for now and continue to groom all three men for their eventual singles runs.

WWE Smackdown Misses

The Wyatt Family: There was nothing inherently bad about the Wyatts this week, but after beating up Daniel Bryan and CM Punk fighting the Prime Time Players seems like a huge step back. I realize this isn’t them getting pushed back down the card and I fully expect their new storyline to continue on Monday. But if a D-I college football team followed up their victory over the number one team in the country with a win over a D-III team, even if it was already on the schedule, I would consider that a miss as well.

Opening Segment: Damien Sandow was good here, but the segment as a whole was a miss. The Real American shtick grew old a long time ago, and the John Cena clown show is the single worst thing about his act. Making erection and nipple jokes but refusing to explain what BS means might be the height of fake PG, but it’s also incredibly stupid and insulting to anyone older than 10.

MizTV: My how the mighty have fallen. It was just a few years ago Miz was WWE Champion and headlining WrestleMania. Now he is Randy Orton's personal bitch and getting killed by everything that moves in WWE. The biggest miss however, is the bait and switch with Shawn Michaels. Bait and switches are common in wrestling and are not a major sin, unless the bait is a giant fish like HBK. Promising him and not delivering smacked people in the face a little too much for this viewer's liking.

Natalya and The Bellas vs. AJ, Tamina and Alicia Fox: The match itself was fine, but I continue to grow weary of the lack of character development in the Divas division. There should have been more to cheer about here than AJ and the Sharpshooter from Natalya, but WWE refuses to give the women any time to develop a character that we can either love or hate. As long as that is the case, the women will fail to produce numbers of any value.
