UFC 127 results: B.J. Penn vs. Jon Fitch, Jorge Rivera vs. Michael Bisping, George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver, Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole
Feb 27, 2011 - 12:33 AM

The following are the results of the UFC 127 undercard broadcast and pay-per-view, which took place on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

-Nick Ring defeated Riki Fukuda by unanimous decision.

-Alexander Gustafsson defeated James Te Huna by first round submission.

-Ross Pearson beat Spencer Fisher via unanimous decision.

-Kyle Noke beat Chris Camozzi via first round submission in the first pay-per-view fight.

-Brian Ebersole beat Chris Lytle by unanimous decision.

-Dennis Siver beat George Sotiropoulos via unanimous decision.

-Michael Bisping beat Jorge Rivera via second round TKO.

-Jon Fitch fought B.J. Penn to a majority draw.

Powell's POV: I was okay with the main event decision. If you gave Penn the first two rounds (which is debatable) and Fitch a 10-8 third round, then it makes sense. This logic didn't really please the bar patrons, though, as they felt Fitch took the second round and dominated the third round. In fact, Penn even said that he felt he lost the fight, so score one for the alcohol impaired over the judges. One judge gave the fight to Fitch, but the other two called it a draw, so that's where the "majority draw" comes into play.

Bisping showed zero class. He landed a knee to the forehead while Rivera was on his knees, which cost him a point. I can even live with him getting caught up in the moment and making that mistake, but his taunting of Rivera's corner (did I really see him spit at the coaches?) was pathetic. Siver came out flying in the first round and then edged Sotiropoulos in a couple of close rounds to close the fight. Overall, an entertaining night of action. Check back on Sunday for Mark Gessner's detailed report on the show.
