UFC 116 payoffs: How much did Brock Lesnar earn for his victory over Shane Carwin?
Jul 7, 2010 - 10:40 AM |
The pay figures for UFC 116 are in. Brock Lesnar was paid $400,000 for his victory over Shane Carwin, who was paid only $40,000 for losing the fight. Chris Leben was paid $86,000 for his semi-main event win over Yoshihiro Akiyama, who earned $45,000. For a full breakdown of the payoffs, visit MMAJunkie.com.
Powell's POV: Lesnar earned an additional $75,000 for earning the "submission of the night." I'm stunned that Carwin earned such a small pay day given that he was the interim champion heading into the fight. Lesnar is worth every penny (and more) given that he's a pay-per-view draw, but Carwin was also a big selling point for this particular show, so hopefully he gets a piece of the pay-per-view pie once those numbers come in.
