Batista talks more about the possibility of retiring from WWE when his contract expires
May 5, 2009 - 01:00 PM

Dave Batista reiterated during a UK Sun interview that he has one year left on his WWE contract and is considering retiring once it's complete. "I have just under a year on my contract," Batista said. "I’ve just come off this injury and I turned 40 while I was out. I realize that I am closer to the end of my career than I am to the beginning. It's something I’m really going to have to take a look at. I don’t want to hang around past my welcome. I also don’t want to hang around to the point where I’m so beat up that it’s hard for me to get out of bed. I don’t want to be that guy."

Batista also revealed the wrestlers he'd like to end his career with. "I wouldn’t mind ending my career with John Cena. He’s an icon already in this industry and he really hasn’t been around all that long. He’s going to be around for years, long after I’m gone. He’s someone I’ve not had a long, drawn-out program with, so I think that’s definitely there for both of us. And also definitely Triple H. I believe he’s the best wrestler who's ever lived." Powell's POV: Batista also commented on accompanying Manny Pacquiao to the ring over the weekend, his frustration with not appearing on the WrestleMania 25 show, and his upcoming match with Randy Orton. As for the retirement talk, there are people within the company who believe he's sincere and others who believe he's just posturing for the contract negotiations. Only time will tell, I suppose.
