WWE News: Bret Hart apologizes for comments made during his Appreciation Night ceremony
May 31, 2013 - 12:17 PM |
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart issued an apology for a joke he made during Monday's Appreciation Night ceremony about being nervous when fellow WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson gets down on his knees. "I sincerely apologize to anyone that was in any way offended by my in-ring joke to Pat Patterson on Monday, especially to Pat, whom I hold in the highest regard," Hart wrote.
"I was only trying to take some of the edge off an emotionally challenging moment and I failed. The comment does not in any way reflect my feelings toward the gay and lesbian community." Follow Hart online at Facebook.com/hitmanbrethart. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Moustafa Mohsin]
Powell's POV: I don't know whether this offended the openly gay Patterson or not, but it would surprise me given his reputation for his sense of humor. The comment seemed like something Hart felt comfortable joking with Patterson about given their friendship, yet it may have bothered some viewers.
