WWE News: Finlay reportedly released, had been working as a top producer
Mar 29, 2011 - 12:34 PM |
WWE has fired producer David "Fit" Finlay, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. The incident that led to his firing occurred at a house show this weekend when The Miz was scripted to interrupt the national anthem. Representatives of the National Guard were in attendance, and cutting Finlay was essentially the scapegoat.
Powell's POV: The National Guard is a big WWE sponsor, which explains why the company would go to such measures. It's a shame they couldn't have simply apologized and assured them that they wouldn't make the same mistake again, which is essentially how the Michael Cole gay slur incident was handled over the weekend. Unless there's more to the story, it wouldn't surprise me to see Finlay rehired once the heat dies down.
This original source for the above news was Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
