2/7 Shore's ROH on HDNet Live Coverage: Jim Cornette interviews ROH TV Champion Christopher Daniels and Eddie Edwards, and The Kings of Wrestling and The All Night Express vs. The Briscoe Brothers, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas
Feb 7, 2011 - 07:00 PM

By Chris Shore

ROH on HDNet
Taped in Lexington, Kentucky.

A video recapped Christopher Daniels defeating Eddie Edwards for the TV Title last week…The opening video aired and Jim Cornette was in the ring. He called Daniels and Edwards to the ring. Cornette said that when he talked to them after the match they both said the same thing.

He asked Daniels for his thoughts first. Daniels put over the fan and said Edwards made the belt relevant. He said the match could have gone either way and so when he looks at the title, he believes Edwards deserves a rematch and they deserve more time when they do.

Edwards said he wanted a rematch and he liked the idea. He put over Daniels as the best in the world. He said nobody could beat him twice in the same night, so he wanted the rematch to be two out of three falls. Cornette said they would do both. They would have a rematch that was two out of three falls and a thirty minute limit.

"The Prodigy" Mike Bennett came to the ring with his trainer. He said the ring was full of sissies. He said he didn't care who won the rematch, the winner had to deal with him. Daniels cut a "when I was your age" promo and said Bennett needed respect. Bennett said respect or not, the winner and everyone in the locker room had to deal with the fact that 2011 was the year of "The Prodigy." His music hit and he left them in the ring…[C]

Shore's Slant: Good opening segment that put some much needed heat on the TV Title and Bennett. He's had one of the most lackluster debuts, but he has a good look. It will be interesting to see how he does from here.

Steve Corino was interviewed in the back and he put over the Top Prospects tournament. He said he was an evil person, but he didn't want to be anymore. He said the men in the tourney were the future and he would make sure they would succeed…

1. "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett (w/Bob Eveans) defeated Grizzly Redwood at 4:33. Bennett set Grizzly on the ropes and played to the crowd, Grizzly hit a hurricanranna and some strikes but Bennett powered back. Bennett tossed him to the floor and teased diving. Instead he stopped and stomped the fingers. Grizzly hooked a sleeper from a lift, but Bennett hit a spinebuster and a powerslam/driver combo for the win…

A video hyped the four teams in the eight man tag main event…[C]

Roderick Strong and the House of Truth were backstage. Strong cut a promo on how all those who have tried to join the House of Truth have failed his tests except for Mike Elgan. He said with Mike and Truth Martini behind him, nobody could stop him…

Ring introductions occurred for the main event. Just a reminder, each of the sides is teaming up with the team they will face at the 9th Anniversary Show. The ANX and KOW started jawing as soon as they got in the ring…[C]

2. The Kings of Wrestling (w/Shane Hagadorn and Sara Del Ray) and The All Night Express fought The Briscoe Brothers, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas to an apparent no contest at 20:25. Both sets of tag teams argued until the ref's decided that they would do a coin toss to determine who would start. It finally ended up being Rhett Titus and Jay Briscoe.

Titus and Jay ran the ropes and Titus hit a knee to the gut. He tagged in Kenny King and they worked a double team move on Jay. King lost control and Mark tagged in. They battled in the corner and King drove him back to their own corner. The KOW both dropped to the floor to avoid the tag.

Titus tagged in and Mark hit a forearm. He tagged Jay who hit a lariat for two. Titus worked the corners and Jay hit an elbow. He tagged in Mark and they hit a double corner kick on Titus. King ran in for the save and they hit a double shoulder block.

Titus slapped Chris Hero and he came in finally. Jay and Mark hit their double shoulder block on him. Hero hit an elbow and tagged in Claudio. They worked in and out on Mark. Shelton Benjamin finally tagged himself in to save Mark.

Benjamin worked his offense on Claudio. He tagged in Haas who allowed Hero to tag in. Hero took control of Haas and he and Claudio serious whipped Haas to the corner. Rough looking spot. Haas is a pro.

Titus slapped Castagnoli to some in and he worked Haas at 12:43 with a body scissor. Hero slapped Titus to come in and he stomped Haas. Claudio got a blind tag and he and Hero hit a double kick. The ANX took out the other team and Claudio covered for two.

Kenny King tagged in and hit a backbreaker for a near fall. He whipped Haas chest first to the buckle and tagged Claudio. Claudio locked in a Boston Crab. Haas made the rope for the break and Del Ray got a cheap shot in.

Haas flipped out of a back suplex attempt and tagged in his whole team or something. All hell broke loose with bodies and moves everywhere. Everybody was laid out. The heel team ended up fighting each other after the KOW accidentally kicked the ANX.

The ANX laid out the KOW and left. The babyface team fought over who would pin Chris Hero. They couldn’t agree and Hero rolled to the floor. He and Claudio left and several refs came out to help separate Haas, Benjamin and the Briscoes. The bell rang and the argument in the ring continued…

Shore's Slant: I liked the idea of this match, and the action was very good, but it didn't play out well. The fans didn't know what to do when the ANX and KOW fight started, and seemed equally unsure when the Briscoes and WGTT fought. These battles don't need any hype really, you either want to see these or you don't. And trust me, you want to see these. I'll have more to say tomorrow on the hitlist. Thanks for reading and I'll see you then.
