WWE announced the release of Emma (a/k/a Tenille Dashwood) on Wednesday. Read the official statement at WWE.com. [Thanks to Dot Net reader Andrew Quick]
Powell's POV: I just finished stating in Dot Net Weekly that I would be surprised if she was released based solely on the shoplifting incident on Monday. After all, the company has had several performers be arrested on DUI charges over the years and they maintained their employment. That said, it's possible that there is more to the story or that this was simply the tip of the iceberg on issues we're not aware of. If not, I see this as the company overreacting or using the situation as an excuse to make a roster cut.
Update: Emma was rehired later in the day by WWE. Read more details in a separate story on the main page.
