TNA News: TNA signs former Army Sergeant who lost leg while serving in Iraq
TNA VP of Talent Relations John Gaburick announced via Twitter that TNA has signed Chris Melendez, a former Army Sergeant who lost his leg in an IED explosion with only 23 days left in his deployment. He joined Team 3D Academy in 2012. TNA classified the deal on ImpactWrestling.com as a multi-year deal.
Shore's Slant: Melendez is pictured with a prosthetic leg so this isn't a repeat of Zach Gowan. I hope this kid is good. Too many people will be lined up to call this a desperate publicity stunt by TNA for him to have success if he is just "good for someone with a missing leg." I hope he can shut down the irrational critics before they can get started.
