Shore's WWE Smackdown Hit List: Lots of filler misses, including Adam Rose, Big E, Fandango, and more, but the former Shield members and the Main Event handicap match Hit

WWE Smackdown Hits

Roman Reigns, Sheamus and John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton: A good main event that saved the opening segment. I like this so much more than the "everyone line up and say your two lines" gimmick they opened the show with (see below) but it was a little paint by numbers. Still, they used all of the story beats here to produce an entertaining match and deserve the Hit for it.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose: The war between these two is heating up nicely, and I'm glad that they broke Reigns away from it a little. This needs to be a one-on-one feud for a while as the chemistry between Reigns and Ambrose is weak. Rollins is doing a good job of not being overshadowed by Ambrose on the mic, though I think Ambrose might be holding back a little. This should build to a good first match. The question remains as to whether they can find a good way to keep it going after that.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bad News Barrett: A mild Hit. I struggled where to put this because while Ziggler got a good win, Barrett made him look like a chump immediately. I don't mind them protecting Barrett. He is the Intercontinental Champion and they often just bury those guys. But the sunset flip finish was enough of a protection. He didn't have to kill Ziggler right after. Still, it was a much needed win for Ziggler and I'm sure he'll have some crazy spot in the ladder match to make it all worth while.

WWE Smackdown Misses

Opening segment: A miss because of its predictability. Everyone delivered fine here, but as I watched it play out I knew exactly who was going to come out next and exactly what they were going to say. I often say that sometimes the obvious story is the one still worth telling, and to some respect that applies here, but they need to find a new way to do this. Every time you have one of these multi-man matches, you can bet on Smackdown starting with a promo segment just like this.

Adam Rose vs. Titus O'Neil: Adam Rose continues to disappoint and there as no reason to job out Titus here twice. I realize he's probably never going to be a big star for WWE, but this just screamed fake and didn't have enough going on to cover for that.

Jack Swagger vs. Big E: This gets a miss because it was stupid. I realize heels often say things that don't jive with reality, but Colter sounded like a loon as he tried to shoehorn Big E into helping out Lana. Didn't he see the flag waving contest?

Fandango and the ladies: Why is this even a story. Look, I appreciate giving the women something to do. I really do. But it's not like Fandango matters at all, so they seem to be fighting over the guy who is barely above Zack Ryder on the totem pole. Just like Eve delivered good work in her gimmick with Ryder, his lack of standing dragged the whole thing down. The same is happening here.
