Kester's WrestleMania Preview and Predictions: Is this Daniel Bryan's breakout night? Will Bray Wyatt become a top heel? Who will win the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal?
2014-04-05 18:12:48

By Ryan Kester

The following predictions are made with no foreknowledge as to what the finishes or booking will be. They are predictions made solely based on what WWE has done and what I think they will do.

Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H (Winner to be entered into the WWE World Heavyweight Title Match): After months of teasing fans and flirting with the idea of putting the title on Daniel Bryan, WWE is finally building up what could and should be Daniel Bryan's ascension to the top of the roster.

I'll admit, a part of me, a very sick and sadistic part of me, wants to see the reaction of the live audience and the viewers at home if Triple H were to actually go on to win not only this match but the prediction that follows. The outcry that would ensue would be unlike anything we've seen in wrestling for years, and it would be interesting to see just how bad it becomes. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

The outcry would be justified, however, as the only reasonable course of action for the show to take is for Daniel Bryan to go over here. Moments like WWE has in the palm of its hands are extremely rare, and they would be fools to squander it. There is too much history between Triple H and Daniel Bryan and too much passion from the fanbase for WWE not to deliver. Make no mistake, WrestleMania 30 is Daniel Bryan's night, or WWE is doing itself and its audience a severe disservice. Daniel Bryan goes over.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan defeats Triple H to go on to the main event.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Winner of Daniel Bryan-Triple H Match: Naturally, after all of that, it would only make sense to put Batista over as the new...

Ok, I'll stop. Based on my previous prediction, I have Daniel Bryan being the match's third participant and ultimately the victor. For bonus points, Bryan should get the pin on Randy Orton to put a fitting end to their rivalry over the WWE Championship from late last year. Plus, having Batista not involved in the finish would allow for WWE to have a logical path to booking Bryan vs. Batista coming out of 'Mania.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan pins Randy Orton to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar: What a disappointing build. For the second year in a row, Undertaker takes on a Paul Heyman guy, and some overly complicated storytelling mucks up what could have easily been a great build and one of the highlights of the card. As it stands, this comes off as any other match on the show with only the feint promise of being the dark horse show stealer simply due to Undertaker's history of going all out for his annual appearance.

The finish has never been in doubt, but there is little WWE could do at this point to convince even the most casual of fans that Undertaker will be taking the loss at WrestleMania. The Streak is simply too valuable a commodity for WrestleMania until Undertaker is finally ready to call it quits. Undertaker and his given opponent tend to create the atmosphere of Undertaker's potential loss in the match, and I am expecting him and Lesnar to repeat that on Sunday. That being said, there is no reason to give up the Streak if Undertaker has anything left, and there's even less reason to give that honor to another part-time attraction.

Prediction: Undertaker extends his Streak to 22-0.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt: This is the one match at the top of the card that has a lot of questions surrounding it going in. The build has been one of the better stories going into the show, and the motivation of Bray Wyatt wanting to topple Cena more than replace him has been intriguing. It's not often we get a heel that is content with taking a babyface down rather than taking their spot.

For my money, I am having Bray Wyatt going over. Cena standing tall is certainly a possibility, but even with the story involving his legacy, he can take the loss and move on easily. Wyatt, on the other hand, has been getting a strong push since his pairing with Daniel Bryan at the beginning of the year, and WWE is really rallying behind the man as one of their top heels. They can cement that with a win over Cena, and I am expecting them to do so.

Prediction: Bray Wyatt defeats John Cena.

Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational: What a clunker of a match. WWE has done such a poor job of building up anyone in their women's division not named AJ Lee that they just threw the entire group into one match and called it good.

Due to that, I am expecting the incumbent champion to retain the title. With luck, WWE will call up Paige from NXT and we can have an actual feud in the women's division again.

Prediction: AJ Lee retains the Divas Championship.

The Shield vs. Kane & The New Age Outlaws: This match has the misfortune of being a backup plan created halfway through the WrestleMania build, and is a simply unattractive team to oppose a hot act like The Shield. I am expecting the young bucks to go over here simply because The Shield's babyface run has just been getting started. There's been some concern that this match will be used for the Shield's previously planned breakup, but I feel that this match wouldn't even be occurring if WWE still planned to execute the split.

Prediction: The Shield defeat Kane and The New Age Outlaws.

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal: WWE's "get everyone on the card" match could be a sleeper for a fun WrestleMania moment. I am picking one of the mystery wrestlers to win the entire thing, and my pick for a potential mystery entrant is Alexander Rusev. It would be a great way for him to debut on the big stage and show off his strength by being the last man standing.

Prediction: Alexander Rusev enters as one of the mystery wrestlers and becomes the first winner of the Andre The Giant Battle Royal.

The Usos vs. Los Matadores vs. The Real Americans vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel (WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Pre-Show Match): Much like the Diva Invitational, this feels like a match set up without any thought designed to get multiple teams on the card. Considering The Usos only recently picked up the titles, and they are the only serious babyface act in the match, I am expecting them to retain their titles to send viewers into WrestleMania on a high note.

Prediction: The Usos retain the WWE Tag team Championships.
