WWE NXT Hits

Adrian Neville vs. Rusev: In what will become a recurring theme on this episode, this match scrapes a Hit, but disappoints because of what it could have been. This is more of a retroactive “what if” scenario. Before the cheap, anticlimactic finish, the match was actually pretty damn good. But that just served to make me think what could have been had these two feuded over the title, and how welcome it would be right now, considering everything not involving Tyson Kidd/Sami Zayn is coming off really flat.

Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. The VaudeVillains: I wanted to enjoy this more than I did, but I can only give it a middling Hit for it's action. Given more time, I have no doubt they could do much better. But hell, we got two actual teams having a (semi) meaningful match on NXT! Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Summer Rae vs. Charlotte: So very borderline. I think the crowd hampered them greatly, as their disinterest seemed to throw the ladies off of their game slightly. But they powered through and delivered an OK match, although one topped with a poor finish and a flat atmosphere.

WWE NXT Misses

Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley: I understand that Breeze was injured, so options were limited, but wow did they bury Mojo Rawley. Like six feet deep. I'm not saying that that is a tragedy at all, but they gave him nothing redeeming, which is more than a little shocking.

The Ascension vs. Two locals: Need I say more?

Overall Show: I said last week that unless a turnaround happened here in terms of meaningful storytelling or match quality, the show would get a miss. I'm a man of my word. Nothing really shone through in the ring, and all storyline progress was tiny at best. Can we just skip ahead to all of the new blood coming into play post-August?
